Good signing. Kleiza brings some toughness ala Garbo. This board is nuts if they bash BC for this just cause he is Euro..

I had a brilliant plan. BC and MG should sign all of Rubio's friends. This way Ricky can say he only wants to play for the Raps, and tada, we have a new Franchise. (No one has mentioned his name for a while).

is this true because if so would that mean a player has to come to toronto to get the MLE

Sign Kleiza

Trade Turkoglu for Pietrus + Gortat

I would be happy with Gortat+Barnes (resigned) too

JJ/Jose/Banks
DD/Beli
Kleiza/Barnes/Sonny
Bargs/Davis/Reggie/Dorsey
Gortat/Amir/Alabi

Sounds good with a coach
Trading Jose for Hinrich sounds better because Hinrich is a better defender and can play SG

And how has *not* tanking worked out for the Raptors so far? Let's go through the checklist:
- no playoffs
- no top lotto picks
- no Bosh
- very little cap space

I'd rather be NJ right now.

How in the world does Colangelo want Kleiza over Beasley?

Post#310 » by t10rambo » Thu Jul 8, 2010 2:12 pm

hey guys, i hope im not the only one that realized this but if colangelo signs Kleiza that means the raptors will be paying him 5 million a year for the next FOUR years....

Beasley on the other hand is a young player, a SECOND pick for crying out loud, with a huge amount of potential....is also an overall better player than kleiza imo, AND is only getting paid 4.9 million and WORST CASE we dont pick up his option for next year if we dont like how he fits, so we get that extra cap room.....

how could colangelo see through that and be satisfied with another european scrub over a young player who is not only better, but has loads of potential and is making less AND is an expiring???? getting beasley is like the easiest risk in pro sports, and mr colangelo is all about taking risks, so why not take an easy one that could possibly save your ass?

what do you guys think?

We need to look to acquire more starting level talent on this team. Kleiza may not be old, but does anyone think he's a potential starter on a contending team? If so, sure let's develop him. If not, then we're just obtaining more bench players.

This is a great deal. kleiza is a tough dude that can play 2,3 and 4. Not to mention we need his shooting ability at the 3.

Kleiza's probably somewhere in between 6-7 and 6-8, but lacks the athletic ability that the Grangers, Grahams and Warricks of this draft have to help them make the transition from being a PF in college to a 3 in the pros.

Cept some of them didn't have the basketball i.q. and toughness to make the transition either...

people will start praising him as Garbo 2.0 a month or two into the season.. ppl hollering at DEN not resigning him as a negative.. my take is that they couldn't keep him due to dollars and cents...

I think that you could have asked this question in one of the multiple threads already based on these very two players.

I second this... the amount of ridiculously useless threads that have been started lately is alarming.

So you'd rather watch a 10 win team that no one wants to sign with, that was hoping to get John Wall but didn't and who's future doesn't look significantly better than ours at this point. They struck out completely on Free Agency. Awesome, let's do that.
