Question about Boozer
Hey, I'm a Bulls fan. Hopefully it's okay for me to start a thread on this. If not, sorry.
I just came to ask you guys if you could give me a little info on Boozer's attitude. I mean like, how hard of a worker is he? Good chemistry guy? Is he humble, or is he a prima donna? Does he have a real desire to win? Good guy, or duchebag? Fun to watch, etc, etc
I really have no clue about this, and I figured you guys would be the best to ask. Since it looks like we'e missing out on LeBron and I'm forced to accept that we aren't winning a title any time soon, I'm just hoping we have a fun team that's full of guys who you actually enjoy rooting for. Rose and Noah have great attitudes, aren't d-bags, and have a legit desire to win. I'm just hoping Boozer can add to that good chemisty.
Thanks in advance.

Hardworker, great shape, team attitude but his own man, no average Joe. You are Mike Miller (or C.J. Miles) away from title contender.

Re: Question about Boozer
How hard of a worker is he?
He doesn't under work himself, but I don't see him actively trying to improve his game every season. You have seen the best of Carlos Boozer already, and he will probably give you that for the majority of this contract.
Good chemistry guy?
He doesn't seem to have any problems in the team setting, especially on the floor. But he isn't a Derek Fisher or a Shane Battier type. There are pretty well documented rumors that he slept with Kyle Korver's girlfriend however which really screwed up the locker room during the playoffs last year.
Is he humble, or is he a prima donna?
He's soft spoken usually, and he is kind of funny, but the most important thing to Carlos Boozer is Carlos Boozer. But not in a let me steal the spotlight sort of way.
Does he have a real desire to win?
Seems like he cares to win when he knows it's a game he can win. When he's playing a team like the Lakers that he is supposed to lose to, he doesn't seem to try to overcome that. I think getting paid is more important than winning rings however.
Good guy, or duchebag?
He's not a bad guy by any means, more of a family guy. So a good guy I'd say.
Fun to watch, etc, etc
Yes and no. When he gets serious on the floor and takes over he is amazing to watch, when he dominates the glass he is fun to watch. When he wants to take fade away 16 footers for for games at a time he's pretty frustrating to watch, and if he decides games 15-70 aren't "key defensive games" it's pretty hard to watch him not give the effort you know he is capable of.
Hope that helps. You are going to get a lot of bad opinions about him in this thread based on the injuries he had which are legit concerns, but overall I think Bulls fans will end up liking him but not loving him.

Re: Question about Boozer
My issue with Boozer is that he is so frustrating having grown up watching the Mailman. If Boozer had the hardhitting, take no prisoners, bad ass attitude of Malone, he could have been amazing, he sure has all the talent and the physicals to be a timeless player. But Boozer is stats player who often just cruises on D and rarely goes the extra mile for anything. It is also pretty telling that everybody on the Jazz thinks he is a great player but nobody was happy he opted in last year. Also, it is very telling that the Jazz did not match a reasonable $80 million when they easily could have made room to absorb that contract by trading folks like Millsap and AK.
Boozer will definitely make your team better but you will find him frustrating.

Re: Question about Boozer
One ESPN analyst labeled Carlos as "the nicest NBA player he had ever met."
Lebron James said, upon Boozer's departure from Cleveland, "I wish he were my power forward for life."
Gabe Muonoke (sp?), a player that writes occasional blogs and spent a training camp with the Jazz, called Carlos the hardest worker on the Jazz team.
Finally, Michael Jordan said, about five or six years ago, that "nobody represented the NBA better than Carlos Boozer."
There you go. That's what I know about your new guy.

Re: Question about Boozer
Everybody will have different oppinions but this is mine.
how hard of a worker is he? He's seems to be in good shape every season he's played here and his shot has improved from the looks of it.
Good chemistry guy? I think this might be a problem with him, it doesn't seem like he has the best relationship with some of the younger guys on the team like D-Will, CJ and Milsap off the court at least. He isn't a very selfish player but it does seem like he's an outcast and isolates himself from his teamates.
Is he humble, or is he a prima donna? I think he's more of a prima donna, he got sued by Prince for painting his rented house lol
Does he have a real desire to win? I don't think so at all, he could have played in that game from versus Phoenix but chose not to, that couldve made a big change in our season.
Good guy, or duchebag? Douchebag! At least off the court he seems like a big douche, the other players always seem personable and approachable and Boozer is the opposite and definitely thinks he's the man.
All and all he's a good player, the concern is his heart and health, he doesn't seem to want to play hurt and he's always hurt unless its contract season. He'll give you 20/10 with bad defense. He's like the Power Forward version of Vince Carter.

You have that backwards. Prince rented Boozer's house and made changes.

Very low willingess to play injured. You can expect a hamstring strain to be a third of a season sitting out.
But, no other character flaws I can think of. Seems like a good guy.

This is a pretty fair assessment. Boozer will have games where he scores 25-30 points on the likes of David West, Al Jefferson, and Zach Randolph, but he will also give up those numbers.
As far as his character goes, I would say that the latest Olympic team was a good representation of his attitude. He was the best cheerleader on that team and was the first one on the court to congratulate his teammates. Of course, he didn't play very much because he is an awful defender, but that's a different story.
All in all, he's a 20/10 machine, stays in great shape, and seems to be a decent locker room guy. I'll miss his play on the court, but I'm glad the "will he stay or won't he" drama that he put Jazz fans through the last two years is finally over. Another fun thing about Boozer: after he signed his contract with the Jazz, which he lied to Cleveland ownership to get, he missed 80 games his first two seasons.

Re: Question about Boozer
One of the best post up players in the league except against tall teams like the Lakers where he is basically useless. Ok passer and good rebounder BUT on the defensive end...
The worst defensive PF in the league!!! So bad he probably can be schooled by Kosta Koufus or Ostertag and
Selfish as worries about himself over the team and a wuss that doesnt play with a hang nail. Good riddance as far as im concerned. The Jazz just improved by his subtraction.

Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I don't know how many Jazz games you watched but Boozer is "I, me and myself" player, concerned about getting his stats, absolute disgrace on defense in that he could be at least decent but he just coasts at that end, he is always hurt, or feeling not right unless its a contract year. He was the most hated Jazz of all time and the smart people of Chicago will catch up with his act quickly and learn to hate him as well.

Re: Question about Boozer
Booz had a tendency to look lethargic at times in non-contract years. Ironically, this year when the Lakers swept us, he looked more engaged than ever.
He's a great, tough rebounder, who always gets great position (whether he seals his man or just shoves him in the back). He's gifted in the post, has a sweet stroke outside, great vision passing the ball for a PF.
He seems like a good person who sometimes gets caught up in the selfish celebrity mindset so few stars are able to insulate themselves from. Sometimes he'll frustrate you to no end, but when it's all said and done, you'll be glad to have him and you'll miss him when he's gone.

His negatives are overblown, mostly because of the apocryphal Cleveland to Utah deal. He's a stat guy. He doesn't make others better, and needs a play to go through him.But he is very good at that.

Re: Question about Boozer
IF you guys get Bron, I'm not sure how well that will work out. Don't expect Booz to do much when he isn't touching the ball, because he needs it. He is not a high energy guy like Varejao, who benefited from James isolating so much. He stands around and watches when DWill goes one on one. If you can work your offense through him much of the time, he will be great, especially if he has some sharp shooters to keep the pressure off.
I think some of the social and private issues he had here have been worked out in his life. He seemed much more mature this year, as if he had taken what had happened to him to heart and internalized it. He will be a good addition to your team. I think he will leave the drama behind, but who knows.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...
