I think more casual fans will watch if LeBron leaves Cleveland. NBA ratings are largely dependent on individual story lines+market size.

i agree, i think if this happens, the NBA will lose revenues and will turn into MLB in the late 90s when the Yankees ended up over paying and buying championships. attendance and viewing went down, and everybody lost interest

I will take the Lakers over any team regardless of the Miami rumor or any rumor. I still don't get why people are so fixated with RuPaul(Chris Bosh). He's a terrible defender, who shoots around 50% at a position where the majority of the players shoot better, and he could rarely put the Raptors in the playoffs in a conference where below 500 teams were making the playoffs. I think he was just a stat padder on a bad team, and has a lot to prove now that'll he'll be on a playoff contender. I would rather have Josh Smith for the future.

i agree that i don't have any concerns with Bosh when the team has Josh,..... but Bosh last year did put up numbers similar to Karl Malone put up in his prime.

If Bosh, Wade, LeBron are all on the same team it will be pointless for any other team than The Lakers to play out the season. I would hate this.

This would be a disaster for the Hawks with the Heat playing in the same division. This would also definitely tarnish Lebron's legacy. The Heat are Wades team period. This is a joke if he chooses Miami.

If he chooses Miami then I think he does serious damage to his legacy and his brand. I will also think it would be hilarious if they can't make it work in the playoffs enough to win it all (but they likely would win at least a title).

I also wonder if they would be more vulnerable in year 1 or year 4? If year 1 then we should get a C and let give it our best effort. If year 4, then we should try to S&T Joe to some place like NY or Chicago and focus on getting the pieces together to compete for a championship in a few years when Josh and Al should be at their prime.

It would probably be too damning to back out of the deal entirely, but paying 120M+ to Joe to stay 3rd in the division isn't a good plan.

You know I've thought it over and they would be most vulnerable in year 1. Damn the torpedos full speed ahead. Let's get a big and upgrade PG and not worry about the cost this year. If we have to sell off parts down the road so be it.

D@mn, I really don't know... People give us h3ll for giving JJ a max contract, but Wade is only 6 mos younger and doesn't show the traits (size for position and shooting from range) that translate well as a player ages. At that year 2-3 mark when both will have to start adapting their game, Wade's adjustments should be more than JJ's and I very well see Wade's contract being more of an albatross than JJ's. OTOH, LeBron + a 1/2 decent supporting case is prolly enough to keep them in contention for the next 5-6 years - so forth Bosh and even a declining Wade being part of that supporting cast.

As far as how it affects us, I think we're already in @mn the torpedoes mode though. If it doesn't work out, then fine, we will have to change course at the time it's obvious that we need to. If LeBron really is in MIA for the next 5-6 years, then we've got the time to try now and start rebuild for later.

Did some math and the starting salary for Mike Miller could be as low as 4.66M to reach that range. Also found that there is 1.5M in dead money on the cap from the buyout of James Jones. When you factor in minimum cost of $854K for a vet hold on the other roster spots I calculate that the big 3 would have to leave 1M on the table each to afford Miller as the 5th man. That 1M factors in greater on the long term value of the contract I believe and I seriously doubt they'd do that. I mean if you were going to sign any one player in that price range wouldn't you want a C? I mean are they expecting to get their C at league minimum?

Maybe they're hoping to just use Varnado or Pittman.

i don't know, maybe Teague and Jordan will turn to develop into top 5 players?!

but i think the Heat, Wade, Bosh, and Lebron have officially become America's most hated team, i couldn't imagine anybody rooting for them in the playoffs.

Maybe it's just me, but I think we'd actually do pretty well against that Miami team. We'd still lose in a 7 game series, but I'd think it'd take 6 games or so.

FT Attempts Per Game Last Season (Career):
Lebron James 10.2 (9.0)
Dwayne Wade 9.1 (9.2)
Chris Bosh 8.4 (7.4)

I'm shocked that he picked Miami.

It's just you.

I know this will anger some of you, but this just makes the decision to re-sign Joe to a ridiculous contract *that* much worse.
