I would start Chalmers. Chalmers should be more than competent with talent around him as our starting PG. When he's asked to be an integral part of our offense, like he was last year, is when you say NO, DON'T SHOOT THAT!,mopper8 wrote:I would totally start Mike Miller alongside Lebron and Wade if we had all 3, I can't believe people would want to start SuperNintendo Chalmers instead.
1- Riley was the guy who said a few years back that he'd love to coach a team of guys 6'8-6'10 who could all shot and pass
2- Mike Miller is just a flat-out better player than Chalmers
3- Between Wade and Lebron, we'd already have more than enough handles/play-making, and Miller can also bring the ball up the court when those two aren't
4- The matchup problems would be sick, you'd have either Wade posting up opposing PGs constantly, or 6'8 Miller shooting 50% from 3 over the top of little 6'0 guys
5- Does anyone think the Bulls were ill-served in starting Ron Harper as their "point guard" for their second 3peat?

Okay Mopper, so we wouldn't be able to take back 125% of the TPE, but if we moved Beasley for a TPE, we are still talking about a lot of money saved under the cap. It would basically be Beasley's salary figure x 2, right? His salary that we are shedding, pluse the TPE we are acquiring.
Edit: I read canesaddict's post from the previous page and see we can't go above the cap with the TPE

while I agree that having Wade/MMiller/Bron on the floor together will be done ALOT, none of them can stay in front of opposing PGs consistently so I think that MMiller would be the 6th man, with the ability to be a substitution at the PG SG or SF spots when we shuffled Wade and Lebron around baised on matchups, foul trouble and injuries/fatigue.

I'm a huge proponent of Mike Miller, but I think it would be wise to start Chalmers in that situation.
I'd still see Miller getting all the backup SG minutes, all the backup SF minutes, and about 10 minutes a game on the floor with Wade/LeBron. So that's 30 minutes right there.
Doesn't mater who starts really. All about who finishes, and that'll depend on matchups and the hot hand.

As we saw with the whole Beasley/Haslem fiasco, it was proven once again that it doesn't matter who starts, it matters who finishes.
Let's get LeBron and Miller signed though before we worry about starting lineups.

A desperate attempt to be relevant by a local beat writer.

I must clarify. Izzy said Wade's people (whatever that means) don't want Lebron here.

Until we get a PG who can stay in front of opposing PGs consistently, then it really makes no difference.

Funny quotes from the Knicks Head Coach
D'Antoni on meeting w/ #LeBron: "We tried to show him the path to winning a championship, & I thought he was in agreement."
D'Antoni on Miami Big 3: "It's a really good team. It will set a high bar for the Eastern Conf & we'll chase it."

EXACTLY.
If we had someone better than Chalmers at PG, who was tough defensively and could shoot the 3 (basically what we all hoped Chalmers would be), I say start that player. But we don't. So we might as well start the player who best fits the offensive role we want to fill, since the defensive role isn't getting taken care of either way
Plus, I think we'd be a better team defensively either way just because of the sheer size of our lineup.
Wade the only guy shorter than 6'8?

They needed a 2nd meeting with LeBron to clarify their message from the 1st meeting. Shows the lack of preparation on their end.
