If true, call it a career. Three surgeries, gun gate, and torn ACL?

I really hope this is baseless.

There's nothing on Twitter about this and that's pretty well where the news breaks. This would be VERY fresh off the press if true.

I saw 3 posts on twitter; one linked to a message board with a similar explanation. The source is a friend of basketball/agent and scout so take it for what it's worth.

Gil did say that if he got injured again he would retire. Does his contract count against us if he retires?

And it seems Mel Turpin has killed himself...

@KySportsRadio: Lexington coroner confirms that Melvin Turpin has committed suicide. Sad ending to the life of a UK legend

Just for the cherry on top effect. :nonono:

What a damn shame if true. One of the all around good guys in the NBA. Reading that general board thread makes me sick.

Yup. The message board where I found the link had similar sentiments towards Gilbert.

Spreewell wasn't owed 80M. There were multiple reports the Wiz attempted to trade him. Of course they are going to 'say' they want him and that DC should embrace him, what the heck are they supposed to say? That they hate the guy and want nothing to do with him? That really helps their chances of moving him.
