If Lebron Did Leave, What If He Decided to Return?

Post#1 » by Baseline Runner » Thu Jul 8, 2010 6:15 pm

If Lebron does decide to leave don't you think there is a good possibiliy he will decide to rejoin the Cavs after this contract is up with that team? Unlike most free agents like Kareem or Shaq, NE Ohio is a big part of Lebron's life so he will always be coming here and have ties here. Maybe he wins a couple of championships with Miami (or even if he doesn't) and decides to play the rest of his career in his thirties with the Cavs and fulfill a real goal of his to bring a championship to Cleveland. That could still be a good 10 years of playing with us. He would be like Kareem on the Lakers all through the eighties and hopefully through the draft and rebuilding we find our Magic to go with him.

I know it's easy to get emotional about the whole situation but if we burn our bridges with Lebron and give him the Art Modell treatment should he leave, it would prevent him from ever returning. We are Cavs fans first and foremost, not Lebron fans.

After the circus he put us though, and doing this on national tv, sorry man, I will never accept him back. Assuming he leaves of course.

Seriously, much like Modell, if he leaves I don't ever want him back. This isn't a Warfield like situation. He's leaving because he doesn't want to be here.

Just as a disclaimer, I'm not a Cavs fan, but I'd say that after the circus he has set up now, ending with this 1hr ESPN Tribute-to-Myself show; you shouldn't want him back.

Hell, at this point, after all he has put on, I'm not even sure I want him to come to my team. Sure, he's a great player, but if this is his true personality starting to shine through, I say **** it.

I to am not a Cavs. but I do agree with this guy in not wanting James to come to my team. It seems like he has put himself in front of the game. Specially with a 1 hour special broadcast of him making his decision.

I wouldnt put him in the same category as Modell. That guy stole the team. He moved the Browns due to his own mismanagement and as a result of his stadium deal, leasing it for $1 per year (thinking he was getting a great deal), and assuming the responsibility of maintainence of a facility built in the late 20's, which ultimately cost him much more. And poor decisions like the Andre Rison signing when he couldnt even make payroll.
Modell knew the stadium tax vote was going to pass, and he needed the money from Baltimore and the psl's to pay off Lerner and avoid possible bankruptcy. Thats why he took the deal during the season and announced it when he did, in an effort to torpedo the upcoming vote and make it look like he had no choice.
So, no Lebron doesnt belong in the same category as Modell if he leaves imo. However, would I like to see him come back? At this point no. While I will not lose any sleep, or shed any tears, I will be pissed, and it will take a very long time for me to get over his leaving. If he had just come out and said he was leaving, instead of the whole dog and pony show I would understand a little better.

Most of us don't want him, that is, don't want the person. We realize we need the player, though. I doubt if he returns, he'll be too many fans' favorite player.

But - if he books a 1 hour TV special to skewer all the NY hype and announce he's staying - it's genius. I think the tv special just magnifies whichever decision he makes - if he does the decent thing and stays, it's a nice touch and makes it an even slightly better move. But if he leaves and does it on TV like this, he's 10 times the jerk he would have been otherwise.

Flaunting loyalty and flouting the media would be kind of cool...but flaunting a betrayal would be horrendous.

why is everyone raggin on him? Put yourself in those shoes and if you put your heart into a team that didn't perform well everytime you got to the playoffs, would you want to stay? The one hour special is his agents trying to get more bread for everyone. Nobody seems to realize that agents and management run alot of the players. Everyone who says they wouldn't want Lebron I feel is just sayin git cause they are mad. As stupid as he acts the dude is nasty a sa player just need some growing to do. He needs a mentor just like the legends did.

I am ragging on him because he is having a 1 hour special to announce his new or old team. He is clearly the best player in the league. I hate the person but not the game and i feel sorry for the Cavs fans that are going threw this. It is some serious S*** but nothing like franchise leaving your town. Now that is a punch in the stomach which Cleveland fans know all to well

Because if he were drafted by another team it would be a totally different situation. Hypotheticals are for children. What if?. What if........your Aunt had balls? Would she be your uncle?
His whole loyalty schtick, his knowledge of our sports history and close calls and near misses in all of the major sports that he quotes. If he goes and announces he is leaving on national TV, after demanding one move after another from our FO for the last 5 years or so, and then bailing after quitting on the team in the playoffs this past season?
And you cant understand why we would be upset if he goes?

There is blood on the knife, you guys will get another talent.

Everyone talks about 'once in a lifetime'

Magic Bird Jordan Malone Hakeem Shaq Duncan Kobe AI Dwight Wade LeBron Isiah Stockton Kidd CP3 Durant Dirk Nash ...

All those guys started in the last 30 years. Its not as once in a lifetime as people think.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
