Now Lebron is In Miami, Atl needs to trade to contend

Post#1 » by Atowngetdown » Fri Jul 9, 2010 2:04 am

Now the The new BIG 3 Lebron, Chris & Wade are now playing together. Atl need to sacrifice our young players to make some major trades. What players we should trade for to have our BIG 3?

Edit: Joe Johnson should be the one traded.

Let me expand on the point. Joe Johnson doesn't have the mentality to be the leader of a competing gang. He's a Pookie, not a Nino Brown. WIth his salary, we'd never be able to put together a competing big 3. We need to the think a different way.

We need to fill out the roster and try to the exploit the opportunity this season that they won't have a complete team to compete come post-season (also expecting to karma to strike at them). The big keys will be the post and a fast penetrating PG whether it be Teague or someone else. Those are the 2 places they are vulnerable. Cleveland looked pretty good last year and didn't have an answer for Rondo. Orlando looked good as well until they met up with a team that could guard Dwight one-on-one. Miami has both those soft spots.

Depending what happens with the CBA I think the window is only 2 years until they can use the system to fill the holes in the lineup with suitable talent.

The key now is to not let them collect good pieces at league minimum. Teams need to use the MLE to keep better talent away from them. The Hawks should be contacting Cleveland to see if a S&T can be worked for Shaq to get him off the market.

I can see Miami blowing us out. Hawks somehow trade for Chris Paul, sign Shaq, I would like to trade Marvin for Tayshun Prince

Any team LeBron picked would have likely blown us out.

The speed the Heat have between Bron and Wade is insane. We'll need our players to work even harder on their conditioning and we'll need Josh Smith to stay focused throughout the entire game when we face them.

Wouldn't be shocked if Shaq ended up in Miami.

I've said it once and say it again, LeBron is a "sell out" to Cleveland!! Can't believe he wanted to go to Wades team and not lead his own team to a title. Double on Wade and leave Bron to take jump shots and Bosh is a skinny not all that post player!!

Go Hawks

I don't think LeBron sold out the city of Cleveland. He doesn't seem like a bad guy....but the 1 hour show(if he knew he was leaving) and going to Wade's don't make any sense to me. Now he's going to be viewed as an antagonist to everyone outside of Miami who has no local fanbase.

Trades: Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Tayshun Prince, Hedu

Free Agents: Matt Barnes, Josh Howard, Tracy McGrady, Al Harrington,Jerry Stackhouse, Kurt Thomas,
Udonis Haslem & Zydrunas Ilgauskas

Atlanta cannot wait 2-3 years to compete for a championship. Theres a chance that the owners are looking to sell the team in the future because they wouldnt resigned Joe Johnson.

A mod created this thread on the Raptors board that he heard: ESPN Radio in Florida is reporting that Shaq will sign for the minimum to return to Miami.

Really? I think Shaq's need for money is a little greater than his need to be the old man hanging out with the popular kids.

Doesnt matter. Teams in the East improved, we didnt. What can we do? The things we need to do are drastic and we dont have the resources.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

None of this is happening, 90% chance that we keep what we have already. Shaq is a possible but I doubt he would sign here unless nobody else would.

maybe some weird trade where the Hawks can get somebody like Chris Paul, Gilbert Arenas, or Carmelo Anthony, and still keep the core of Al, Josh, and Joe

All Miami can pay is the minimum to any other acquisitions. I still say that Shaq isn't going to be volunteer labor.

Shaq comes here if no one else wants him IMO. He isnt going to be impressed with LD, the ASG, or any of the parts that make up our lineup.
I also believe that we do little to shake up our starting lineup because we are looking to prove it was Woody who was the problem and a cheap LD can be the difference.
I also see us getting further behind with Joe coming back. No one is talking about us being an elite East team........I agree at this stage. i think MIami and Chicago and possibly Milwaukee leapfrogs us and we perhaps leap over Cleveland.
There's still alot of work to do potentially here; I think switching to Teague as the PG and moving Marvin and one of Smoove/Al will make us more of a threat.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
