Sign Adam Morrison

Spurs should sign Adam Morrison and not resign Matt Bonner. I think after his showing in the summer league last year he definitely could serve a Robert Horry or Steve Kerr or even a Dale Ellis type role in the spurs system

No just no. Morrison is NOT a rotation player in the NBA, he's barely/not even an NBA player. I have zero interest in him and no NBA team should have any interest in him.

I personally don't mind the Stache. He's a SF, and offensively he's a better fit than Richard Jefferson. Hell, right now without RJ, he's better than nothing at all. Stache is probably a backup, but if he gets his confidence back, there's no reason why he can't atleast be that shooter off the bench.

I don't know about that... We don't always have 5 strong defensive players on the floor all the time. Names like an old Michael Finley comes to mind. Brent Barry. Even Roger Mason. Asking Stache to play 30 minutes will be a problem. But as a 15 minute backup like the guys I mentioned, don't see why that's a problem.

Plus, he's cheap. Not gonna get more than the minimum. He's young, got good size at SF, helps us on our biggest weakness: shooting. I wouldn't mind him as a project at all like we did with Stephen Jackson.

I am surprised that his name pops up in this board. He has been left to rot on the Lakers bench for 2 seasons and I'm not sure exactly where he's at currently.

But there is something interesting about him - if you can go back in time and say on draft night that Adam Morrison will have 2 rings in his first 4 seasons, what would the implications be? I doubt someone would think that he will turn into a complete bust and a benchwarmer, even those who saw his bust potential. After all, dude was picked at No.3 and has 2 rings 4 years later.

Back to the question, I think there are far better options at the 3 position so I'd pass.

Well, I think in Charlotte it was mostly confidence issues. Expectations was high for Morrison in that team because I think in a lot of ways being the 3rd pick, people kind of hope that you become a star.

I can't believe that some of you think he's a decent player. The guys a scub, he can't score, he can't shoot, he can't do anything. He's awful on defense and his career FG% is 37%, just a terrbile all around player.

I was recently thinking about how bad Morrison is and how he got the point of making more than 5M last season.

He is not even worth a D-League spot, LOL. He came to the league as a shooter and he is not even good at that. His shooting %s are a joke.

Ammo is quite possibly the worst player in the NBA. No thanks.

He got a 5 mil contract because that was from his Rookie Salary.

I don't know why the hate. Sure, he hasn't made his mark in the NBA yet. Basically can't get floor time in LA and had confidence issues in Charlotte.

Fact is, if you watch his college career, the guy can shoot. Perhaps his scoring ability hasn't translated into the NBA due to lack of explosiveness and everything else. But he's still 25, plays SF, has good size, and a shooter.

For the minimum, what's there to lose? There is more potential in him to be a role player in this team than guys like Jerrells or Mahinmi especially considering our need and our limited assets to bring in players.

No, he got the 5 M because the 3rd and 4th year options in his rookie contract were picked up.

Based on his performance there was no need to pick those up. They could re-sign him for a lot less...

In that case, perhaps LA saw something in him and thought it was worth the gamble right?

Or maybe LA was just stupid. With young guys like that, you can't really judge everything by performance. You always judge them by potential and they become your pet project. Now if we're paying him 5 mil to be our project, then I'll say hell no to Stache.

Minimum?

Morrison's stats are beyond horrible and he has 0 intangibles and he is always injured.

So you judge a player by his stats and percentages? I don't deny he hasn't made his mark in the NBA yet and he's very much still a project and I think anyone who watches him play knows that his biggest issue right now is his confidence.

Ofcourse if we could get Matt Barnes, Dorrell Wright or James Jones, I'll choose them over Adam Morrison. I'm not suggesting Morrison to come in and be our starting SF. But as a minimum paid player, there's a high reward possibility with him.
