I mean anytime you can lock up a career 8 and 5 guy for 40 million, you gotta do it.

Hmm 8 mill a year is kind of high for Tyrus Thomas. He's to inconsistent. Would be better for his career to stay in Charlotte and Larry Brown however I don't think they will match it.

Wow it looks like the big bad new Russian owner and Jazy-Z can't get jack. They try for James,Wade,Bosh,Amare,Boozer,Lee,Thomas......ect and strike out on everyone expect the way over payed Travis Outlaw.I feel kind of bad for the Nets fans now they know the feeling of the T'Wolves fans.

I know right. If you think I'm gonna cry over Thomas for 40 mil...LOL. If we gonna be in the lottery next year then you might as well start Favors and let him develop.

The Outlaw thing was stupid, but I wouldnt fault them for waiting this one out when it comes to Amare/Boozer/Lee/Thomas. Once the new CBA is negotiated they will be able to swing for the fences and get these players at a fraction of the price they are signing for now. If you strike out on the super stars, I say wait it out till next year rather than paying David Lee what very well could be a max contract after the new CBA is signed.

And just like that, Tyrus Thomas gets a five-year, $40 million contract from the Bobcats, with a 17.5 percent bonus up front.

That means his first-year salary is $12 million
, a chatty agent tells us.

 Thank god for MJ.

They (Nets) backed out this morning – presumably – because it took this long to convince Avery Johnson that it would be a foolhardy investment:

GOOD. NJ is the ONLY team that is not grossly overpaying FAs right now. Don't compare the Outlaw deal to anything thats goin on now. 12 million for the first year? Is this for real?

Imagine what we would look like sitting with Amare and Boozer for 5 years when their creeping up on 30.
