as much as i don't like Iggy. Deng isn't that much better. He signed a horrific contract at the same time Iggy did his. I want a big for Iggy or i wait for something better.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 18)
Keep in mind that Deng limits what you can do- because he lacks Iguodala's versatility. Iguodala can play SG or SF while Deng lacks the quickness to be anything but a SF. So you could not have Deng/Thad or Deng/Nocioni at SG/SF. Yoour only SG's would be Turner (or Lou or Willie Green.)
Iguodala gives the Sixers a bunch more options on the floor, and does not cost much more than Deng. It would be a terrible move IMO. Why would you want to bring in a worse contract (lesser player for same money.?)
Again, I live in Chicago, so I know how poorly he is regarded. Maybe in Philly Deng is seen better because the grass is always greener?

So, you have to add size when it's available even if there's no size added, huh? I'll have to remember that. Whatever the case, I think you generally go big over small assuming you are adding a talented big that makes you better. I fail to see how Gibson makes the Sixers any better than the glut of PF/C's they have right now. Meanwhile, I'd rather have Iguodala than Deng. Sorry, this deal still does nothing for me. Then again, when you can make a trade, sometimes you just make it, even if there is no trade to be made:)

Could it be addition by subtraction? Just speculating but it is possible that having iggy on the squad would hinder the development of Jrue, Turner and thad because they would get a lot less touches.

That is his game that's how he plays best!

Deng is actually a good defender but you are right he is strictly a SF and can play a little bit of PF depending on matchups. He is great without the ball as well.
Now I do think Iggy is better I have always thought that.
Gibson is a good young player which I would hate to lose him. Gibson is good post defender and a solid rebounder. As a bulls fan its tough for me to pull the trigger because we both have the same issues since neither Deng or Iggy shoot the three ball well. But its tough call for me atleast. I do like how Iggy can handle the ball a take it to the basket and well his high flying dunks are just a bonus because they are nice to see.

Jrue/Lou
Turner/Meeks
Deng/Nocioni
Brand/Gibson
Hawes/Speights
With Thad, Kapono, Smith as trade bait and potentially 2 first rounders in 2011. Not bad. Gibson would seem to fit in next to both Speights and Hawes pretty well since he does the things they don't.

Whenever I read something like that or "what'shisname will not get enough minutes", I always believe that we're considering getting rid of the wrong player. I was shocked when someone was already concerned about the need to create minutes for Cedric Simmons.
In any event, Iguodala has averaged only 12 shots/per for six years. (That is only two more than Young.) I was concerned, however, when we had Iverson averaging 22.
For perspective: Anthony, Bryant and Durant average 19, and Wade 18. There certainly seem to be enough touches for their supporting casts.

Deng's actually a very good defender. The knocks on Deng are he's always getting injured and he doesn't have a killer instinct at the end of games. Often times, Deng will start off very good but he always seems to fall apart and become invisible when the 4th quarter comes along.

SF-Any chance we can work with Chicago to get a 3-way going to send Iggy to Chicago and get back a 4 or 5?
Maybe a deal like one that would send Deng/Gibson to NOLA and we get a guy like David West

West has nice numbers because of Chris Paul and will be 30 by the time the season starts not to mention the combined money he and Brand will make and the minutes this will take away from Thad and Speights. I say hell no.

Deng's contract if almost as bad as Iggy's, worse really when you consider how much he gets paid on a games played basis, and he doesn't make us a better three point shooting team while sacrificing defense. It feels like a lateral move at beast that can be made later if we find that Iggy doesn't fit with Turner and Jrue.
Gibson is a nice piece and a conditional pick in next year's very weak looking draft is not exciting, but is an asset. I would consider this deal, but not make it now.
+1. I think there will be better offers on the table.

I hope we do this deal. It's the most realistic one i've heard yet. If we end up flipping Deng to another team that would be fine by me. If we keep him thats fine as well.

People hated his defense in the playoffs, but he was guarding LeBron on a bum knee, one that really limited his speed.
But yes, the injury concerns are valid. He's not one of those players that is always going to be limited by injuries or someone you worry about every time he takes a hard fall. He does seem like he's a tough guy...right up until he randomly gets hurt. But he will have some sort of injury that causes him to miss games each year.

Don't worry, that builds character and you can never have too much character...

At the risk of sounding like an Iggy hater, are we serious? I mean if a team offers a legitimate starting SF, a young big with rebounding and defensive potential, and a draft pick for an entertaining yet flawed SF (and the lack of a jumper is a problem for a wing player), exactly what were we expecting - Brandon Roy? I agree with the Bulls poster said his defense was decent.
I am not in a rush to trade Iggy but Chicago is presenting a very fair offer here.

well, he loves playing for great Britain in the summer
Every year that he does it, he has got injured when he returned to NBA
Last year he didnt go, and was injury free. Notice a pattern?
Deng insists he will play for GB this summer, Bulls cant stop him if GB provides insurance. (Deng's contract is not insured for "back" injuries - although his back has never been injured yet. Insurance co didnt like his x-rays apparently)
Since Deng insists on playing, the Bulls are trying to trade him BEFORE he gets injured.
That's as honest as I can get...
Deng's defense & rebounding are very good. On offense, he is average.

I'm guessing that a deflated bag of balls wouldn't be on the cap for over 6.5 million next year when we would otherwise have cap space.
