Last year he made his decision before the Super Bowl, but that was over a month after they played their last game.
He said he would definitely not take as long as in years prior.
I really don't think he has to consider much.
He can still play at a high level
His team is Super bowl contenders
His family wants him to
He loves playing QB for GB
Packers want him back
I know he said him and McCarthey were going to talk about it sometime a week after the loss to the Giants, but I haven't heard any news or updates.
I'm guessing in the next two weeks he will decide he is returning.
When will Favre announce decision?

Last year I thought he'd return. This year I'm less certain.
I just believe he didn't want to go out with his legacy in shambles. After putting up a Pro-Bowl, near MVP type season at his age, I think he can retire knowing that there's little more he can do in terms of his legacy. People will look back and say that he had one of the greatest seasons of his career at age 38, did it with a young team and came within a field goal in the NFC Championship of beating the eventual Super Bowl winner.
The NFC is wide open. There are a handful of teams I could see winning the conference next season. He could come back and lead us to the title, or I could see us going 9-7. You never know.

I thought it was interesting the comment he made before the NFC Championship game about how people will always tell him to play another season. Win alot, play good, you gotta come back. You loss, play bad, you gotta come back.
I think it is between the Packers and Cowboys for the NFC.
BTW I think that the Pack are better IMO.

I think it also has to do with Aaron Rodgers. Favre knew he can still play at a high level and wanted to come back and show all the critics he could, which he achieved in doing by having one of his best years. There are two major reasons why I think he is gonna retire now:
1. As the person before me mentioned, what more could he do to add to his legacy? he has all the records, has a super bowl, mvp's, everything a starting QB could possibly want. Sure the team is going to be a super bowl contending team for the next few years but he realizes they will do fine without him, which leads me to reason number 2
2. After thinking about it this reason makes alot of sense to me. People have always said that Favre has hindered the progress of Rodgers, which is completely far from the truth. If anything Favre has helped Rodgers development. The past few preseasons and when he has had to fill in Rodgers looked very below average and there were several people saying he is going to turn out to be a bust. But this past preseason and when he had to fill in the Dallas game he looked like he was ready to take over the starting job and i think this will factor into Favres decision. I believe Favre not retiring had plenty to do with him wanting to wait til Rodgers was ready to lead this team and be a great starter. Now that he has seen Rodgers has what it takes to make it in the NFL I believe he will retire.

MM and the coaching staff have been in Hawaii all week so I doubt he's had any discussions with brett. I'm guessing next week they'll meet and later that week or the following week there'll be a decision. I don't think there's much of a chance he doesn't come back for all the reasons you guys have already ironed out. 2 more season!

You are correct. I saw an interview of Favre during the Super Bowl festivities and he said MM and the coaching staff were busy prepping for the Pro Bowl, so he wouldn't meet with them until after that. So we'll probably hear something by end of next week I would imagine.
I think he comes back.

I'd be shocked if Favre doesnt come back for 2008.
If Favre comes back and has a similar type season like he had last year, the Packers if they stay healthy are my favorite to win the Super Bowl in 2008.
The Packers are legit and they are probably 1 good TT offseason (this offseason) away from becomming a dominate team at least in the NFC.
The scary part is the Packers still need to ''become dominate'' yet we are talking about a Packer team that has won 18 of its last 22 games.
A Packer team that destroyed a very good vetran playoff tested Seahawks team after spotting them 14pts in the div game.
Besides the 13-3 record that game told me the Packers are for real.
As for the the 4 losses.
2 of those Losses came at the hands of the Bears which you could argue where flukes (2 JJ TO's in oct & wind in dec).I'll give the wind game to the Bears though and say it was a legit Bears win,it was windy for them too.
1 Loss at the hands of the Cowboys in Dallas when we where banged up.
1 loss comming in overtime on a day the Packers played maybe their worst game of the year to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New York Giants.
All this from the youngest team in the NFL and a team that is only going to get better & deeper.Plus that NFC Championship loss will be bigtime motivation for this team as well,if they where going to lose that game losing it in OT the way they did was the perfect way to lose it.
A loss like that is gonna eat at those guys all sumnmer and they will be back better and hungrier in 2008.The Packers as a young team didnt know what if felt like to lose a heart breaker like that.
Now they know that feeling and they will do everything in their power to make sure they dont have that feeling agian in 2008.
When you combine that with the talent the Packers have,a great coach in MM and the best NFL gm since Ron Wolf in TT im very optimisitc.I havent been anywhere near this optimistic about the Packers since the '96 offseason.
Its way too early to start make predictions and breaking down the NFC & AFC for 2008,but i'll just say in short I think the Packers as far as the NFC is concerned will be the best team by a fairly wide margin in a confrence with mediocre competition.
And next year the AFC will be in transition and the team that wins the NFC in 2008 will be probably be the super bowl favorite.Teams like the Pats & Colts are still good but are declining teams while teams like the Titans and Jags are on the rise but will still be a year or two away.
If the Packers stay healthy I think the Lombardi trophy is there for the Packers taking in 2008.
I realy think that if Favre comes back 2008 will be the Packers year and I think Favre and the team probably sense that as well, like I said i'd be shocked if Favre doesnt come back.
BTW if Favre does retire I still think the Packers would still have great shot to do big things with Aaron Rodgers at QB provided the dude can stay healthy.Rodgers looks like he git it together and can play some football but is the guy made out of glass?

My guess is it's about 80/20 Favre comes back and he'll let the team know in the next 2-3 weeks.
If we had finished say 9-7 and lost the wildcard game, i'd have it more 50/50 that Brett comes back. It's just hard for me to envision Favre passing on taking one more shot at a Super Bowl given how well he played most of the year and how well the team looks to be set up to succeed.

We will also have more nat TV games next year, so that helps too.
You got that right,I bet the Packers wont play more than maybe 4 or 5 noon games next season.
The only problem with that though is it would probably eliminate the possibility of the Cowboy game being in December,I know the NFL makes it a point to try and not schedule night games at Lambeau after November.
At least its at Lambeau though thats the main thing.
Im sure we'll get the max of 3 Monday night games and I bet they'll be vs the Cowboys,Colts & Jags.
With that in mind I'd also willing to bet that next season the NFC Championship game will be the ''early game'' and the AFC championship will be the 2nd game.

If the league thought for a second the Packers would be a contender theres no way in hell they would have scheduled the NFC title game as the 'late game''.

I believe the NFC and AFC championship games alternate between early and late each year. So yes the NFC will go first next year.
The wild card and divisional games vary depending on which time zones the home teams are in.
At first I also had hoped to get the Cowgirls and Colts in December but with the way we've been playing in cold weather I'd rather have the tougher teams when it's nice out.
