well, he loves playing for great Britain in the summer

Every year that he does it, he has got injured when he returned to NBA

Last year he didnt go, and was injury free. Notice a pattern?

Deng insists he will play for GB this summer, Bulls cant stop him if GB provides insurance. (Deng's contract is not insured for "back" injuries - although his back has never been injured yet. Insurance co didnt like his x-rays apparently)

Since Deng insists on playing, the Bulls are trying to trade him BEFORE he gets injured.

That's as honest as I can get...

Deng's defense & rebounding are very good. On offense, he is average.

thanks for the info!

Please no Deng, I would rather start Thad at the three. A third team has to be involved, we need a quality big in return for this trade to happen.

I don't know if Gibson and a mid round pick is worth trading a better defensive and much more durable player. I think there could be better deals out there, but if not I would just rather keep Iggy. Aminu, Jordan, and a TPE seems like the best somewhat realistic fantasy trade.

Not at all realistic if you talk to Clippers fans. Many of them said they wouldn't deal Iggy for Jordan straight up. They'd rather give up Kaman.

Deng and Nocioni are BFF's, and must be united. Any more info from the OP of the rumor? thx

Deng's actually a very good defender.

As I said, I don't think he was a bad defender. But just this morning on AM 1000 they were saying how badly he looked on defense in the playoffs. Of course he was guarding Lebron Jippin.

Again, how does adding Deng and Taj actually help the Sixers?

It does not help them financially.
It does not upgrade their defense.
It does not give you more offensive firepower or three point shooting.

The only benefit I see is that Deng would need the ball less so free up touches for Turner and Jrue.... but I'm willing to give Iguodala a chance to start playing more off the ball. Its not like Deng is the type of player you better snap up now or lose your chance forever. And Taj will be a career role player. Which is fine, but unless the role player is a 7 foot defender (like DeAndre Jordan) it really not a priority.

IMO this is not the time to tinker with things just for the sake of fit. If you are going to make a big move, then make it an impact move. One that changes the face of the team, brings in a talented under 23 year old, or it least opens up a bunch more financial flexibility.

Deng is a true small forward that can not guard shooting guards and power forwards. He's just an average at best defender for his own natural small forward position. He also only averaged 2 assists per game to go along with his 17.6 points, so he isn't a dynamic playmaker like Iguodala. Deng doesn't even average a whole steal per game. Deng is simply just a bad contract given out by a GM that didn't know what he was doing. Deng's value is only in relieving the Bulls' cap. I would not give any valuable player to the Bulls outside of expirings. Deng is not a starter on a team contending for a title. His defense is too poor combined with his passing and 3 point range.

I think you summed it up. Longer SF, better mid range shooter off the ball, a young big in Taj, and what is the conditional pick? A future 1 would make it a very attractive deal.

Deng actually is pretty good on D. Those who say otherwise haven't watched him enough.

O.K. I retract my statement :) All I said is that he gets criticism from local media over his defense (maybe unfairly because Lebron made him look feeble.) I'm not saying he is a bad defender (when healthy) nor am I looking for anyone to agree with what I heard. But I do stick by the fact that Iguodala is a superior defender, and much more able to guard players at both SG and SF.

Maybe it is best to keep Iggy. I'm not a huge fan of his, but if Jordan and a TPE for Iggy isn't realistic or Deng and small incentive for Iggy is realistic than I would just rather keep him. If that is currently his value then his value can only go up.

At least with a backcourt of J/T/I there is a reason for interest next season. They could become a great backcourt or just get in each other's way- but it is compelling. And their defense has tremendous potential (at least those three.) I don't think I would be excited at all if you substitute Deng or Thad into that equation.

i agree with the post of we shouldnt start tinkering right now just to tinker...

Iguodala has been pretty damn consistent with playing time and holding up throughout an NBA season... Deng isnt as good as him, and it doesnt help us financially, offensively, or defensively...

so imo it doesnt really help us at all.

id rather keep Iguodala

I don't like trading quality for quantity, especially with all the small pieces we already have on this team. So no to Deng + Gibson.

btw the Jazz have just lost their shooter Korver to the Bulls
They will need to get a shooter to replace him. And I think SF1976 said we are interested in Koufos? (Something like Thad for 9th + Koufos on draft day)
How about we trade them Jason Kapono for Kosta Koufos?

I don't mind keeping Iguodala. As long as he shows he can play off the ball, I'm all for Iguodala.

I am instantly calling the clippers and offering deng + jason smith for Deandre jordon and try to pry a first from them.

In one swift move.. we get 2 1st, jordon, gibson (who the bull fans love) and I am a big fan off AND cap flexibility. If either team wanted kapono or green.. great!

Leaves us with the following... (13 players.. id still sign cedric simmons to go to 14).

Hawes/Jordon/Speights/Simmons
Brand/gibson/Speights/Simmons
Thad/Nocini/kapono
Turner/Meeks/Green
Holiday/Lou

We are kinda stuck with brand.. fine... Id let green and kapono expire or trade them for expirings or teams with cap and get a 2nd rounder for them. Losing iggy 14 million or so lets us extend guys like jordon, hawes and thad if need be.

A few things.. at pg and sg we are really set, esp. if meeks can play.. if not, we can find a quality back up when its time to contend. At back up SF nocini is perfect for collins system and maybe thad works out.. maybe he doesnt. At PF/C.. we wait it out with brand bc this young team could use a vetern voice in the locker room. At C/PF, we have 4 young talents and at least one will pan out. O yea.. dont forgot about the 2 first round pick!!!!

After Miami signed LBJ, I'm leaning more into rebuilding. I'd be fine if we can clean the house and just keep Jrue and Turner.

I'd do expirings/TPE for BOTH iggy and EB42. Gotta take both of them.

I'd do TPE/DeAndre/Gibson (like what is proposed) for Iggy.
