I admittingly dont have a good handle on the NBA cap...

What specifically has he done that is evasion or manipulation of the cap?

Take a good look at what's going on.

The fact that he's signing players from out of the blue. The "plan" of having the 3 amigos sign for specific amounts and trading Beasley which opens up just enough cap space to sign someone else...etc.

I am no cap expert either but something is definitely off here.

I agree with you. I don't know how they are able to have three max players and still sign Mike Miller and Haslem to non league minimum contracts.

Because they're not getting max money.

The highest paid free agent in 2010 free agency will be Joe Johnson.

Which is because of the whole Florida tax law BS. The CBA really needs to be changed because living in certain states are now not only a preference in where you would like to live but now directly affects how much you are going to make. Which can play in negotiations with your contract to "take less money".

This whole system is just corrupted to the core.

this is the nba, not high school. depth is required for a championship run

So... Riley is doing something shady? Or is he just really good at his job?

I havent heard that hes done anything wrong. But yes... there has been a "plan" in place for a while. They didnt know who the players were going to be exactly... but they were setting themselves up to be able to do something big for a while now. Thats thinking ahead... not being shady...

Huh? Are you saying contracts need to be adjusted based on state taxes? Not a single other league does that... so how can you say the NBA system is corrupted to the core b/c of it? Are all sports leagues and their caps "corrupted to the core" as well?

I'm just saying something is off here.

And well the "plan" does bring some concern to the equation that was admitted by the divas.

I think the perimeter rotation should solely be Chalmers, Wade, Miller, and James. Rotate those four guys at the 3 spots. Then, find 3 big guys to pair with Bosh at the power positions.

Keep in mind that Riley still has a lot of influence on the coaching staff. This is the same man that once went with a 7 man rotation in the playoffs.

Whatever needs to be done, something needs to be done.

Again, something isn't quite right here while it may not be illegal, it is past the point where you can call it ethical.

But you guys have had a "plan" as well for years? You've been setting up for this year too?

Riley just did it better b/c he was able to clear even more. But both of our teams have had "plans" in place for years gearing up for this FA...

Our plan didn't involve 3 guys secretly forming a pact to join forces together. Our plan was finally being free from long term contracts and positioning ourselves to get better through FA.

The "plan" that I'm sure you are thinking about is merely going off of what LeBron has been saying for a while. He wanted to expand his brand, become a billion dollar athlete and win championships.

There was no deceit, secrets or even tricking teams to send assets meaninglessly for the hope of signing guys who weren't interested to begin with.

Through out this thread you have been posting nothing but about how unfair it all is, "Boo hooo, waaa waaaa" and the like. But you have yet to say why it's unfair! It isn't obvious.

LeBron is going to play PG in a Magic Johnson role. Thats what Riley pitched to him and how he convinced Bron to come to Miami.

The line up is:

PG - Bron
SG - Wade
SF - Miller
PF - Bron
C - Lucky fan sitting in section 342, row 18, seat 6...

So they're going to play LeBron at PG and PF? Must have meant Bosh at PF, easy to get the two confused with Bosh playing Mini-Me to LeBron through the FA period.

There was no secret pact, lol. They started saying how great it would be 2 years ago. But no one could have known all of the trades and what not that went down between now and then that actually made it possible for not 2... but THREE of these guys. No one had any idea this was possible 2 years ago. Hell, no one even thought this was possible 6 months ago...

And there was no deceit either. Do you really think that Bron has been talking about NY for 2 years knowing that he was going to Miami? Hell no. He had no idea. Back then, it looked like NY was going to have far and away the most cap room.

Things changed. Riley made moves. And Riley swooped in and got 'em...

Although I believe trading all those 1st round picks were obviously a mistake.

They need draft picks in order to be good.

they're getting a lotto pick next yr thanks to Tor awesome GM BC lol, unless Tor some how make the playoffs highly doubt it, they would be lucky to get sub .500 record.

Nope. We just sent Toronto their pick back in the S&T for Bosh...

However, their pick was lotto predicted from us until 2014.
