What SF's are left?

Post#1 » by mike3 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 4:59 am

Just thinking, it seems like Gomes isn't a popular choice to start with us. And right now all our SF minutes would go to Gomes and AFA right?

what SF's are still available in the free agency? im happy if AFA gets a lot of minutes but id be happier to see a solid starting SF signed, then Aminu getting backup solid minutes and Gomes just filling in when hes needed. In my opinion Gomes will be ok but not if he's our main reliable offensive player at the Small Forward position.

D.Wright and Harrington then we'll be good to go for '10-'11.

potential roster:

Davis/Bledsoe/Foye
Gordon/Wright/Warren
Harrington/Aminu/Gomes
Griffin/Sofo/Cook
Kaman/DJ

See out of that list, who do you think would best suit us?

RJ, Childress, Dorell Wright, then id say Butler and Barnes would be some guys i think could be solid starting SF's. Not that ive seen much of Childress but i have heard alright things.

i think josh howard would be the best fit. he was a 19/7 player just a few years ago when the mavericks were really good. he's another all-around type player that can shoot the 3 ball and play d. howard would start immediately at sf for this team. i'd prefer him over jefferson and childress.

I think Al Harrington would be best. Him and Baron played well together in GS and it may spark our "leader" to play like a $14M PG.

I hope Craig Smith comes back too.

Josh Howard could be an option yeah i agree, i remember watching him when he was really in form with Dallas and he was a solid player. I still think Brewer aswell.

I could live with Josh Howard, if he'd come on the cheap.

Still, all those guys here talking about his defense and how good he was back then need to remember what he's now.
He stopped playing defense after those 2006 finals and has gotten worse thanks to all those ankle injuries.
He's also not going to the hole on offense anymore, as he rather settles for jumpers and avoids contact.

And please say no to Al "I'll shoot it no matter what" Harrington.
I've watched a couple Knicks games last year and let me tell you, everytime he's been in the game the entire ballmovement on offense stopped, because he was always going one on five(if needed) and doesn't seem to know what a pass is.
That's why D'Antoni had him coming off the bench, because some instant offense off it is the only thing he can realistically provide and it also helped them develop younger guys like Galinari as they could learn a team game and keep the Knicks in it, while Harrington was sitting on the bench.

Looking at that list, i'd take Ronnie Brewer, Dorell Wright or even James Jones ahead of those guys.

Yeh i see what your saying about Harrington, Knicks used to be one of my favourite teams and i remember watching some game where Harrington just wanted to do it all himself. He did make a lot of shots and is obviously good on offence but i don't think it'd be good to go after him as you said.

Agreed. Dorell Wright would be a nice fit at a decent cost.

Probably not, but it's worth a try. I don't think we'll have enough cap space now, after signing Foye and Gomes to multiyear contracts. Though, I think we should be looking towards a 2012 plan, when Dwight Howard, CP3, and DWill are all probably going to be FAs. I would like to see us cut a year off of Baron's contract in say and Diaw/Augustine deal, and maybe move Gomes sometime in the next 2 years, which would create enough cap space for 2 max FAs in the summer of 2012 to go along with Blake, Aminu, Bledoe, and EJ/DJ if we resign them.

I really like Dorrell Wright and I would love if we signed him.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

We need to throw all our remaining $ at somebody. There's absolutely no excuse to sit on it. If it's a 1yr/8M to Howard/RJ, there's really no risk involved. Sterling better not mess this up.

That's ok, but just no long-term contracts that we will regret later and I would look into trades first though.

Ive been screaming for Dorrel Wright sence the start of FA. I knew the Clippers where not going to get James, and wanted Outlaw but new he would be one of the SF to get over paid. Dont believe he is worth more than the MLE.

I would Sign Wright 5 yrs 30 million now. The Clippers would be a solid team. And resign Livingston.

PG Davis/Livingston/Bledsoe
SG Gordon/Foye/Warren
SF Wright/Aminu/Gomes
PF Griffin/Cook/Sofo
C Kaman/Jordan

Still need a solid BU PF/C and if dont get Wright, which would be sad, then sign Howard to a 2 year 16million contract, with a team option for the second year.

While, I wouldn't mind Wright either, he has not shown anything throughout his career to say he is worth that much AND for that long. 5yrs/30mil would be overpaying for Dorell. I would offer maybe something around 2yrs/6mil after trying to get a guy like Ronnie Brewer.
