that's a great deal for the Mariners, they got more for half a season of Lee than we got for a full season of Halladay(and a 4 year extension).

Given the names being thrown around; I disagree.

The names right now are: Smoak + Beavan + Lawson + Lueke

I'd take Smoak over anyone we got; but we landed 3 Top 50 prospects. Lawson and Lueke dont come anywhere near close to d'Arnaud who was the #3 player in our package. Beavan is starting to show some worth, but he's a #3 type starter if he pans out.

Heck of a deal for the Mariners. Jack Z finally does something positive.

Heh, setting aside the Halladay return, turning Aumont, Gillies and Ramirez (all three having terrible seasons) into Smoak and Beaven + meh is a great flip.

Its a great deal for the Mariners. Lueke is old (turning 26 in Dec) but he throws mid 90's consistently and could be a pretty good bullpen arm. I'm just arguing that its not better than what we got. We got 3 legit top prospects; Seattle got a very good prospect, a good prospect, and two filler prospects.

In almost every case, I'd rather take one guy with superstar potential (Smoak) over a package of good prospects, but I'm pretty confident in our haul.

I guess i like Smoak's potential much more compared to Wallace (average 1st basemen), Drabek(3rd starter), D'Arnaud(highest upside of the three but risky).

Wallace an average first baseman? Sure, the Mariners deal looks great when you take the absolute worst of possible scenarios.

Whoa,

Smoak is going to be a beast, I don't think the Mariners were quite as ready as they thought they were, good deal for them, Smoak is going to be a big part of what they do moving forward.

Really thought Lee was going to the Yankees with them apparently offering Jesus Montero, I kind of wish that trade went down, so the Jays wouldn't have to deal with this Montero kid when we get things really going in a couple years. By the time we should be good to go, Lee would be on his way out of his prime. Damn.......

Good trade for Mariners. Don't even know why they had Lee in the first place.

I'm just glad he didn't end up in a Yankee uniform.

Unfortunately for Texas I heard Lee will sign with the Heat when he becomes a FA though

I wonder if the Yankees would have any good prospects to give up if by chance Marcum was traded to them.

Smoak will be legit I LOVE his bat. He's got star potential. Good move for the M's but also a nice pickup for Texas as they are looking to get into the playoffs.

so if we kept halladay we could have a gotten a return like this?? a year no one wanted to give up prospects but now they are.... i still think our package was much better...
