Would you trade Wallace?

Post#1 » by donemilio21 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 10:57 am

Would Bobcats fans consider trading Gerrald Wallace, after last signings and trades?

As a Clipper fan I would offer Al-farouq Aminu + 2012 1st round pick (top 3 protected)?
If you think thats not fair what would you want for him?

Sure we would trade him, but only for a deal that would blow our doors off - and this isn't it.

Nah, that's not enough.

Wallace, Jax and Chandler for Lebron and Wade?

In all seriousness, i don't really see a trade where we would want to trade Wallace. MAYBE if it involved CP3, but anything outside that and it's highly unlikly. Don't see anything on clips roster that i would want by trading Wallace.

Wallace's contract is a top 5 deal in the NBA right now, 10 million for 2 more years in the prime of his career, and a PO for the third (although I'm sure he'll opt out and get paid for which will certainly be his final truly big contract, but we'll probably try to keep him for something to the tune of 5 years/65 million). It would take a LOT to pry him away, and an unproven mid-lotto rookie and a first rounder isn't enough.

Perhaps it would work if you send us Blake Griffin + Aminu + Luke Ridnour Sign and Trade + 2012 1st round top 3 xxx Diaw and Crash.

But as a Bobcats fan I wouldn´t do it

The only way I see us trading Crash right now is under the following conditions:

- We attach the anchor contract that is Diop to the deal without taking bad contracts back
- We get back a serious young prospect (eg: Harden)
- We get an additional player that addresses an immediate area of weakness (eg: Maynor)
- We get a high 1st round draft pick (eg: lotto)

I agree with this. So I guess if we traded Wallace a third team might need to be involved?

thats fair, but I guess Clippers wont be a perfect trading partner.
after recent Gomes and Foye signings Clippers cant get both Wallace and Diops contracts,
however Wallace + Henderson + Ainja for Aminu + Bledsoe + 2012 Wolves unprotected 1st round pick + a Clippers future 1st round pick would be something Clippers could offer.
I dont see us offering Blake Griffin orEric Gordon but I personally would give Deandre Jordan as well .

i could certainly see us thinking about moving crash this season under the following conditions:
- we get off to a horrible start and are out of playoffs by feb
- one of hendo or ups proves to be starter worthy
- we decide to move wallace now, get some capspace, or get rid of diop and pick up a pick and a young player in return

as for resigning wallace to a 5 year deal once this deal is up... that scares me. i dont see how wallace can keep playing at his style and effectiveness late into his career.

as kenny rogers said, you gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em...

Same here. Something tells me that I wouldn't be fan of ZombieWallace.

btw, I still don't see the hype behind Aminu. No clue how he got drafted so high...

i would not be interested in gordon at that price. im not sold on him being anything more than an average starter at this point. maybe i need to watch more clipper games this year.

Gordon for Wallace is at least fair. But still doesn't match the overall value. I do think Gordon and 1st rounder next season or the season after would do the job though. Besides, how many lotto picks do you guys want? :-P
