*Moved to appropriate thread.
I haven't tuned in to many games as of late- not because this team stinks again, but because I just haven't had the time. So when I saw the score (14-3), I woulda bet my life savings that Litsch was our starter today. Thank God I didn't!

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Re: Series: Blue Red Jays Sox Summer
Oh damn good thing I didn't pay attention to this game. It's baseball though and every team has a few games like this every season.
Ricky seems to be struggling as of late but he has faced some tough opponents.
Some friends of mine were at the game and they were disgusted by all the Red Sox fans in the crowd. I bet most of them were locals too.
The Jays or Schad's game thread?

Both gave it their all today. You can't ask for much more as a fan/poster.

I was at the game today my favourite part was either Johnny Mac's Homer or some druken fan shouting "LeBron James, D-Wade and Chris Bosh all signed with Miami but none of them thanked Jesus".

Missed the game, but nothing of real note seems to have occurred (other than Romero struggling horribly for the 2nd start in a row).
Found Ortiz's defense of Bautista interesting, though.
Found Ortiz's defense of Bautista interesting, though.
Ortiz: Bautista should be in Derby
TORONTO -- As far as Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz is concerned, Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista should be included in the State Farm Home Run Derby during the annual All-Star slugfest next week in Anaheim.
"The guy that I'm really worried about is not even in the Derby -- Bautista, man," Ortiz said. "Come on, man. How is he not in the Derby? You need to start a campaign about him being in the Derby."
Ortiz -- scheduled to take part in the Derby -- said Bautista would pose a legitimate power threat. As things stand, though, the American League sluggers who will be included are Detroit's Miguel Cabrera, Toronto's Vernon Wells and Ortiz. That leaves one vacancy.
Bautista, who entered Friday as the Major League leader with 23 home runs, had not been asked to participate as of Thursday night. The Jays' top power hitter of the first half has indicated this week that he is willing to join the contest, though.
"He's the home run leader," Ortiz said. "It's a joke. He has to be there -- he's the leader. I don't care, have two Blue Jays in there. If he wants to be in, he has to be in -- I don't care what anybody says."

Re: Series: Blue Red Jays Sox Summer
Molina and Jmac with homers... late-comers to the offense, but there it was. We got 3 runs, our offense at least showed up. Ricky got HAMMED, though...
We knew that our offense would get stymied early, though; Lester's a brutal lefty fireballer with skills.
Ricky's line is harsh... 9 R through 2.1 IP, though 4 were unearned. 2 Ks, 3 BBs, the 2-run dinger to Hall, that was another suck-tacular outing frfom him. That's consecutive games where he hasn't made it out of the 3rd inning.
In June and July, he's getting ripped to the tune of .322 baBIP, though, and it's .476 over his last two starts, with a 35% LD rate. Tough beans, especially because the Red Sox (injuries or no) still have a brutal lineup to handle.

Re: Series: Blue Red Jays Sox Summer
Good start to this one... Kind of a waste with the bases loaded and none out that we only got one run, but at least we're up by two. Would be three if Morrow hadn't WALKED IN A RUN, but w/e, he appears to be settling in.

Argh at using Zip as a reliever. Totally counterproductive...either start him in Toronto, or start him in Las Vegas.

Huh? He is starting for the Jays. he relieved once because it was his "throw day" and the all-star break is in two days totally throwing off the schedule for the rotation. This relief appearance meant nothing, at all.

Re: Series: Blue Red Jays Sox Summer
Yeah, exactly. I certainly wouldn't expect the Rzep thing to be a full-time change of roles. They just needed a lefty to go that inning (Downs was hurt) and it's his throw day.
Bautista hit another bomb today (and just missed another), but Swisher took his spot in the derby. Maybe we'll see Vernon bow out of the competition for Bautista like when Vince gave up his starting All-Star spot for MJ.

They've considered it:
http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/news/ar ... p&c_id=tor
Manager Cito Gaston said Rzepczynski's uneven outing was encouraging, and it will certainly make his job a lot more difficult with starter Shaun Marcum expected to return shortly after the All-Star break.
Much of Rzepczynski's future will likely depend on the success of Jesse Litsch, who has struggled in his five starts since returning from Tommy John surgery. Nevertheless, Gaston has also toyed with the idea of potentially moving Rzepczynski to Toronto's already crowded bullpen. Such a move could come as soon as Sunday.
"He's a kid that if he hadn't hurt his finger during Spring Training had a chance to make this club," Gaston said. "I don't know what we'll do with him now, but eventually he's going to be here and pitch for a while, whether it's out of the bullpen or whether he's a starter. It's good to have him back."

**** your asterisk.

Re: Series: Blue Red Jays Sox Summer
Cito says stuff like that all the time without really thinking about it. I wouldn't look too much into his words unless he's specified that it's coming directly from AA.
The most likely outcome here is that Rzep takes Litsch's spot in the rotation after the break. There is also no room for him in the pen unless they trade Downs/Frasor (which, if it happens at all, will occur in a few weeks) or designate Tallet for assignment (not happening to Cito's favourite).
