Big Z Considers Joining Heat

Post#1 » by chenaren » Sun Jul 11, 2010 4:25 am

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/38185147/ns/sports-player_news/

Free agent center Zydrunas Ilgauskas said that he is "looking into [the] option" of joining ex-teammate LeBron James in Miami.

The Heat's superstar triumvirate has turned Miami into a magnet for veteran FAs seeking championships. Big Z would likely sign for the veteran's minimum and would provide welcome relief for Chris Bosh, who doesn't want to play center anyway.

Old news. Everyone actually expects him to go there.

I would hate to see it though. I really like Z, and will root for him anywhre and everywhere but Miami. He would become the enemy if he went there. I wouldnt really blame him though, he was already traded, and I'm sure he wouldnt want to ba a part of any rebuild at this point in his career.
Please Z, anywhere but Miami. Go to Boston, Orlando, Dallas, anywhere but Miami.

I think he might be a very good fit with Howard down in Orlando. With Howard dominating the inside, Ilgauskas should have a lot of open midrange jumpers available to him.

I'm not sure Z has anything to offer anybody so it's irrelevant where he goes. If I were the GM of the Heat, I'd rather roll the dice on a couple of 7-foot Summer Leaguers. At least then you have some upside. Also, I'd quit the PG search and start LBJ, Wade, Miller, Bosh and any random center.

I know Z got traded is in indication that the Cavs dont really mind if he goes. I think Z will use this as consideration for next season. But Z also called Cleveland home for a long time, loved it there, was disappointed in getting traded, and orchestrated a way for him to go back home. At this point you dont know what Z is thinking and if he goes to the Heat instead of anywhere else, imo is another slap in the face to Cleveland but weaker. Thats my opinion and I know you guys have it bad, I just dont want a loyal guy like Z joining up with the LeBron again at this time.

Z has nothing but good will, I wish we could have gotten him a championship here, but he deserves the best for being the warrior he is and has been. This has nothing to do with the way that LeBron abandon Cleveland.

Maybe in your world its loco. Then again your avi has someone exploding someone elses head. I'll try to explain it to you though. Z, after having 6 or 7 foot surgeries could have taken the 60+ million he earned from the Cavs and just retired, the team not getting any return on their investment for the 3+ seasons he missed.
Instead he chose to have his foot surgically rebuilt again so that he cold come back and play again. The loyalty he has shown this franchise along with the many comments on how he has appreciated the community taking him in, particularly when he was a rookie and didnt even speak the language have endeared him to us fans.
He was traded last season with a real possibility that we would win a title with no gaurantee that he would be able to come back. He was slapped in the face by Mike Brown in a game (at home) where he would become the franchise leader in games played (a tribute to his heart and determination coming back from all of his foot problems), inexplicably Brown chose to leave him on the bench and not play him. All this after the team got Shaq to take his starting job, and Z played good soldier and said whatever is best for the team is fine by him.
Shaq even said after that game he thought that Z actually starting that game would have been a nice touch. So the guy has given his all for this franchise, something Lebron cannot say. Z has never held this team hostage, and would never do anything as classless as what Lebron did on his "look at me" TV special either. So, hopefully now you get it.

gflem hit everything right on the spot.. If he decides to join another team, even Miami, I wouldn't be angry about it. After everything he has been through, the man deserves a ring.

Z is a classy guy who does things the right way. I understand his motivation for a ring at his age and it's not hypocritical like Prince James at 25 years of age.

No hard feelings for Z. I will root for him individually no matter where he goes.

His jersey will be hanging in the rafters and hopefully he gets a job with the organization when he retires.

If Lebron had Z's heart we would already have 3 NBA titles

I think he's pretty sure to go there. But if Z goes, I have no problem...he played his butt off for us.

Why? he's old, a free agent, it's not like he's gonna go on TV for an hour to detail his decision.

You should wish him well, he showed Cleveland loyalty and is not departing on bad terms.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

...And I just called a Heat fan clueless because they thought Big Z would consider joining Heat...

LeBron leaving is understandable since he has other priorities we all knew that but Big Z? He's always been more respected than LeBron, he belongs to Cleveland more than Lithuania...

I'll be extremely disappointed if Z leaves.
