I don't think Big Ben is that good anymore.

I think Big Ben doesn't make sense if we have Joel in the bag... very similiar undersized center/shot blockers... we need a big banger as the second headed center...

I wish Haslem the best if that signing is true. Boy what a lame year hes going to have in NJ though.

Even if true, can't we offer Udonis a 6 year deal? Starting at $4m it would be worth $30m in total to him...

I would pass on Fisher given his age as we are about to go on a very long run and would rather use his minutes to develop someone who will be here for the entire run or atleast half of it, and given Fisher's age I only give him one or two more years at the most. I don't think he will leave LA anyway as it would be a terrible move for him given all the titles he has won there along with the roots he has planted which could serve him well at retirement time.

As for Ben Wallace, he is out of gas and I would rather use his clone, Joel. In all honesty, I hope we have vets covering our top 8 spots and for the seven remaining spots (15 man roster) that we fill it up with rookies with the hope of them developing so that we can continue to fill the gaps as some of the older vets we sign retire. I admire the way the Celtics have been able to develop young players to support the big three, like Big Baby, Perkins and Rondo, and that is the direction I would love us to follow. If we take on every old vet that is around at a minimum, then we are going to have to do that every year. Fill up to 8th spot on team with vets, then rookies.....

Did Ben Wallace really re-sign? He had a solid season last year and no offense to Anthony, but he isn't as good as a 36 year old Big Ben. Centers are the most expensive position and the Heat would have been lucky to get him, and he probably could have raised Anthony's level of play. I really don't see who you're going to get that isn't old and going to slow you down (Z, Shaq) or completely inept (Kwame). If Haslem is really going, then you should absolutely use that money to plug the glaring hole at center.

Big Ben would have been nice for a season or two. He pulled down close to 9 reps/game last year in under 30 mins. Defense is decent enough, even at an advanced age. Apparently, he wanted to close out his career in Detroit. He already has his ring, so we were likely a long shot, if a consideration at all.

I'm sure we've probably sent out feelers on Brad Miller, but he's probably looking in excess of the ~4M we have left. Supposedly, BOS wants him at the MLE.

Yeah. I'm now seeing that was a dated article I was referencing. I guess I'm trying to put everything related to JO out of my mind after that postseason stinker.

Still, I'd imagine Miller is looking for something in that range. Although, a promise that Dwyane will never make him cry again could swing things in our favor. :D

We shouldn't get too many old players on our team, seeing as how we traded away most of our first round picks for the next 5-6 yrs. lol. We will become a slow team really quick otherwise. I don't have a problem with getting a few ring chasers that can still play. They can be one reason we won't miss those 1st rounders right away, so we might as well take advantage of them. At the same time we need to develop as many young players as we can get a hold of early on and hope a few of them can become good role players for us. I want Chalmers and Pittman to get decent playing time since they are both young and play two of our weaker positions. No point in overplaying these old guys during the regular season anyways..

QFT. Agree on everything.

We need solid PG and C play. This is a great chance for Chalmers/Beverley and Pittman. Hopefully they realize it, and take advantage of the situation.

Beasley trade won't be official until Minnesota finishes some in house administrative things, supposedly, tomorrow. Once Beasley is traded out, the cap space will be used to sign (probably) Miller & Haslem
