Sixers get Bass, Gortat, and Carter

Magic get Iguodala and Brand

Would you be happy with that trade? Large expiring with Vince, promising 4 with Bass, and a solid starting center with Gortat.

Pretty sure the Magic would laugh at us if we made the offer, only because the financial implications for them would be mind boggling, including luxury tax considerations. What do they do with Brand - play him at the 4 against Bosh? They are better off pitting Lewis against him. Plus, with the new CBA looming, they basically could only make a deal that puts them on the hook for that much extra money if they were guaranteed a title or two. That's not the kind of move that does and they don't have Mark Cuban paying the bill.

Their owner is worth 4 Billion dollars. Iguodala does what they need him to. He's a guy who knows his role, can attack the rim, and can DEFEND. He's a large upgrade over Vince and worth taking on Brand's contract to obtain in many Magic fans' eyes.

Large upgrade over Vince defensively, not offensively. And not enough to justify crippling any financial flexibility to make a move. He doesn't shoot well and they need guys who can knock down the long ball. There are probably better deals for them out there than taking on so much money. But if they would be willing to do it, I'm all for it. Vince becomes a hot trade commodity in a year, when he has an expiring contract, and he can hoist jumpers while Turner handles the rock a little more than he would with Iguodala here. Gortat is a serviceable NBA center on a reasonable deal - he plays solid defense, rebounds and blocks shots. WIth starter's minutes, he could give 8, 8 and 2 and run the floor fairly well. Bass is a decent back up 4, who can score in the post and hit a midrange jumper from time to time. His contract is also reasonable and he too can run the floor a little and play a bit as an undersized 5. The Sixers would get a lot more financial flexibility and ability to make other moves in a year, while also getting a better pick next season. I just don't believe the Magic would do it. They might not even match Reddick's offer from the Bulls, so their owner clearly does care about not wasting money and their GM clearly cares about not handicapping himself from making any other moves. If they do this deal, they won't be able to make any other trades. They would have Howard and Lewis with max deals and Iguodala and Brand with near max deals. Plus Nelson is getting paid well. They would also need a bench. I can't imagine anyone trading for Brand without giving us an equally bad contract in return.

I might do it too. I doubt Orlando would, but who knows where their heads are at? You can't play DH and Gortat at the same time; Brand would give them a second big body on the court. IMO they lost a dimension when Turkoglu left, and Iggy would have been an upgrade for them even then. Orlando may feel their window is this year while Miami is still figuring it out. If Brand shows that he has something left this year as far as boards and getting up, this trade wouldn't surprise me at the deadline. So (cringing as I write this), Brand could take the heat off of Dwight. But if they try to add Rashard instead of VC, there's no way I do that.

also vince should have some value to trade to a contender. Not totally sold on bass/gorat though but they would be much easier to move for expirings then brand

Hearing we are getting calls about Iguodala from Dallas and the Clips in addition to the Bulls. WE do not really like Deng this much so it may have to be a threw way if we trade with the Bulls.

Was also told no salary dump for Iguodala outright..we want a rotation guy in the deal or even a starter back.

Did you have any idea what the offers are from Dallas and the Clippers?

Yeah if it's the Clips, then Deandre Jordan has to be involved.

Dallas im asssuming involves butler. dampier also could b involved since they locked up haywood. I dont see much from the clips but a 3 way with the bulls is intriguing. Who do you think would be involved, wholikes deng?

I'm not seeing anything on the Mavs that is intriguing in the least. I would think a Kamen deal straight up would be a good deal for both....

dont know specifics but i know clips like deng so just speculating..maybe we get a pick from bulls, deandre jordan from clips..maybe taj gibson comes here too..i dont know..dont want this to be fantasy thread. So I will try and find out more.

I still dont think we want to trade iguodala right now unless we really really like the deal. Collins really wants to try and make it work with him,Jrue and Evan together. Dont know.

I want one more move such as this before we go to camp.

I kinda like what toronto and phoenix did. Lost their superstars but brought in some great pieces to make a team with.

A rotation guy or even a starter? I would hope that Philly would want more than that in return for a pretty good player? My understanding is that they don't really want to take back a worse player, but would rather try to get a good player at more of a need position or possibly a better fitting SF if they think they can get one. I would be fairly annoyed if Iguodala was moved for a top 8 kind of guy or a fringe starter. In that instance, just keep him.

As for the teams mentioned, it would almost have to be a 3 way deal because LA probably doesn't have enough to get it done without involving Kaman, which probably wouldn't interest them. Meanwhile in Dallas, Philly would probably try to spin it as help, but acquiring a guy like C. Butler would mean his contract expires after this year. If they want to dump salary, Philly could ask again and see if Dallas would take Brand with Iguodala and could possibly take Butler and Terry in return (Terry has 2 years left, but it would be one less than Brand). I highly doubt Dallas would trade Butler and Dampier (both expiring) in that scenario. A whole host of options exist in a 3 way.

sixerfan, do you really think a low pick is enough to compensate for the dropoff from igoudala to deng? There must be some incentive. I know Chicago loves Noah but he is really the only thing on Chicagos roster that helps us. Do you think a Iggy/Speights for Deng/Noah would be feasible?

Sixers out- Iggy
Sixers in- TPE, Jordan, 2011 1st round pick from Bulls, 1st round pick or young player with potential from 4th team

Bulls out- Deng, Gibson, 2011 1st round pick (lottery protected)
Bulls in- Iggy

Clippers out- TPE, Jordan
Clippers in- Deng

4th team out- 1st round pick or young player with potential
4th team in- Gibson

I would definitely do that deal. There's no point in bringing in Gibson with Brand and Speights already here so we'd have to ship him off to another team. I'm not sure who would be interested though.

Really? I literally have never heard that before, but if so, it makes all of the speculation about Philly desperately trying to trade him a bit ludicrous because after this year, his contract would become an asset, not a liability. If true however, then I suppose Philly could ask for Dampier and Butler and potentially rid themselves of their two biggest contracts. This still doesn't do much for me, but I'm still skeptical about the team option part for Brand.

Nope it is a player option at least according to Hoopshype.com. It would actually be sweet if it was a team option. Unless he opts out (highly unlikely) or Brand somehow gets traded (which could be a possbility in the last year of his contract) we are stuck with him for 3 more years.
