Re: World Cup Golden Ball
Yeah, if they factor in the final, Iniesta seems the right pick to me. btw, now I just feel more strongly that it should not go to Villa. Spain shuts out 4 teams, including Germany who scored 3+ against everyone else, and Villa is not a huge factor in either the semis or finals.

Re: World Cup Golden Ball
Müller wins the Golden Boot and most likely best young player. Makes me happy.
Who gets the Lev Yashin trophy? Steeklenburg?
Forlan is a good pick for the Golden Ball.

Re: World Cup Golden Ball
Muller's already won the best young player award.
I think Stekelenburg will win it.

Re: World Cup Golden Ball
So it ends up:
1) Forlan
2) Sneijder
3) Villa
Seems consistent with the idea that all this is decided before the final. Iniesta, Forlan, and Sneijder would be my top 3 in some order after the final.
The one thing that bothers me with Forlan's hype is that people are painting this like he carried a team against long odds to great success. In reality, Uruguay basically did exactly what you'd have expected them to do if you knew that France was going to fail to show up. They never upset a team and only got passed the quarters in a game where they were incredibly lucky to get to a shootout against a poorly ranked team.
However with that said, Forlan was the guy scoring the most spectacular goals, and he was doing so while relying less on his teammates than the other big scorers - I get the pick as long as people are just going by what he himself did, and not by a perceived narrative of an incredible World Cup by Uruguay.

Casillas should.

That's a shame. Iniesta should've won that, he was one of the most consistent Spanish players and the best player on the pitch on the final. No doubt in my mind he deserved it.

Stekelenburg should have won it. Very solid in the final once again and his save against Brazil might have been the one reason why the Dutch team got that far in the first place.

I'd have given it to Stekelenburg. To point out a couple, both of them blocked a breakaway in the final...but Stekelenburg's save vs Kaka is what got Netherlands there

I thought he should've won Golden Glove at least. He was impressive throughout the whole tournament

he also had a semi-blunder against Uruguay. i thought Casillas was the right choice, he was virtually flawless entire tournament.

Casillas had a lot of little flaws throughout the tournament but nobody capitalized from that.
