How does Minnesota feel about its GM?

I was just curious because the consensus is that is isn't all that great of a GM how does the T-Wolves nation feel!

I'd say a rare few feel strongly pro-Kahn, a strong contingent against Kahn, and the majority of people saying that it's too soon to tell. You will get more favorable responses now, right after the Beasley deal, than if you had asked say, right after the draft.

Individually some of his deals are meh, but when you take a step back and see the full roster it looks a little better. Right now the team has athletic shooters, good defenders and high character guys at every position. If they could just get that #1 option they'd probably be a solid playoff team.

Kahn has made some good deals to try to get us what we need most - a young player with a chance to be great (Foye+Miller for #5 (Rubio)) and the Beasley deal. Kahn has made some good salary-based deals with Songalia. Kahn has made some bad moves with Atkins and Gomes/Webster. He is trashing Al Jefferson's trade value. He has seemed cavalier about fitting the system to the players, and is willing to dump players that don't fit for less. He's made good signings (Sessions) and bad ones (Hollins and Sasha). He seems to not be getting full value for our assets this year (spending so much cap space, using out picks, and the trade value of our youth).

I'd give him a 4-of-10, which means I probably like him ten times more than the national media portrays him.

My only complaint about Kahn from a basketball operation perspective is that he has been too open with the media that Jefferson is on the market. As a fan, I enjoy him being forthcoming but there is a balance to be made where he needs to refrain from commenting if that hurts a players trade value. To Kahn's credit, he has said that there is no guarantee that he would trade Al, that he wasn't going to give him away, and that Al might be here for the entire year or for his entire contract. Of course, fair or not, such comments get dismissed when combined with him having admitted that he's made outgoing trade calls. Other moves are too early for me to fairly judge but I agree with the sentiment behind each and every one that seems worth caring about.

Other than that I appreciate a lot of the stuff that he has done to make the Wolves more enjoyable for from a fan perspective -- such as having town hall forums, online chat sessions (1?), shrinking ticket prices, trying to implement a more fan friendly style of play, drafting high character and charismatic players, and trying to change the image of the Timberwolves to the general national public.

too soon to tell..i dont care what anyone says tho, the beasley deal was a steal, and a number of nba teams should be kicking themselves for not getting in on that

I'm on the fence whether I should be indifferent or liking his vision.

Off the top of my head, the only things I disliked would be Flynn, Ellington, Hollins, Atkins, Johnson, and Hayward - and I could understand the rationale behind Ellington and Johnson. While I have liked the Rubio, Lawson, Sessions, Darko, Webster, Bjelica, and Beasley deals.

I'd give him a 6 out of 10 thus far. Could fluctuate a lot depending on what he does with Love and Jefferson. Rubio and Beasley are two big pluses.

Imagine if 18 months ago I cam up to you and said we would have Ricky Rubio and Michael Beasley and all we would have to give up his Randy Foye, Mike Miller, and a 2nd round pick??

That to me is incredible. Kahn doesn't get enough love when you look at the big picture.

So far I like most of his moves. He has been a big upgrade over McHale, and I think that Kahn's strength is knowing the cap, which is why having Rambis and Ronzone really helps because they can evaluate talent.

It's safe to say that Kahn has a plan and wants to win in the near future. The man never went up north to go fishing or anything like that. We finally have a GM that takes his job seriously.

Can't wait to see what else he has for us.

You're kidding right?, First of all I would like you to explain what his "big picture" is exactly aside from putting together a running team.

His use of assets has been if anything short sighted, he committed a contract to Darko immediately, before thoughly exploring the FA market, possibly losing out to just signing Lee outright because of it.

He traded away Gomes contract which they had an option for, and Luke Babbitt for Webster, Actually taking on salary in the process, when we could have dumped salary and taken on a prospect like Anderson or Babbitt.

Openly explained Jefferson didn't fit into the plans, then go after David Lee, when they still have Kevin Love, since apparently it took Kahn half a year to determine Love wasn't sufficient, but Darko is.

Passed on Cousins for Johnson, because Kahn thought Cousins game was too reminicient of Al's, yet is completely fine with Darko...BTW Cousins is more athletic than either Al or Darko, and if attitude was a concern then Beasley will give you a heart attack.

Earlier Flynn was discussed in trades, now word is Sessions is looking to be delt, so they can sign Ridnour or Livingston to the same deal Sessions had.

And then there is last years selection of Flynn, and use of picks that are questionable.

Would you fire Khan?
