Other SG options

Post#1 » by Jazzfan Bayamon » Sun Jul 11, 2010 3:50 pm

So if we let Wes walk (which I think we should) and not go after one with our TPEs (Rip, Redd, etc) what pther options are there??

Any player stand out in a SL or just got waived, etc.??

The thought did ocurr to me to check out the possibility of bringing back both Brewer and Almond and give them a shot. At least it'd feel like we just kept them all this time and now it's their time to step up to the plate. If that's the case, and they don't completly suck, I won't be as upset with this whole offseason.

I think theyll just end up bringing back Brew and calling it good. I like Ronnie but I dont think hes a starting quality 2. I like him much more at the 3 but we would need a good scoring 2 in that case.

Brewer can't shoot much, but he managed to score anyway. It's all about the dollars to me. I'm hoping they just give a guy a one year deal and hit free agency next year.

Does that mean I could live with paying Brewer 5mil for 1 year? Yeah, I could live with that. But, I think he could be had for less, just not sure if he'd take less for one year.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I like your idea of a shorter contract length. It limits the liability.

I wouldn't mind bringing back brewer for the right price. Forget about Morris Almond though.. the dude can't even get pt in Europe.

Brewer's going to be had for cheap so why the hell not? Bring him back, he held down the starting SG job in Utah for how long? Yeh let's get the guy back in Utah.

Bring Brew back and let Hayward play. The sooner he gets the feel of the NBA game, the better for the Jazz. As for Brew, a contract similar to CJ won't be that bad.

Jazz tried to get Childress but the Suns got him in the end:

I don't want Brewer back, he needs a low post presence to be effective.

I would mind signing Brewer for 3 million then sign Jarvis Haynes for 2 million.

Brewer is the only real option from what is left out there.

And I thought Redd picked up his option? If he really is a FA then I would go try and get him for cheap and keep him around until he is ready to play, couldn't hurt to give him a shot.

I personally would LOVE for the Jazz to pick up Shannon Brown. The price might be too high but I love his game.

I agree, i talked about it in the Sessions post. He is a big guard that would allow us to have a tall powerful PG on the floor at all times. Keep Price for those here and there minutes for energy!

Well he's dumb as an ox. Basically him and Farmar were the big reasons why the Lakers bench sucked hard last year (outside of Odom of course), and his price will be to high to play in Utah.

I'm guessing Brewer will be the man (which I'm all for) for a fraction of the MLE.

BTW, anyone know anything about Mo Almond?? He never really got a shot with us and I think given our circumstance we should in the very least give him a camp invite. He knows the system, the guys and is supposed to be a good shooter. His main problem was we adquired KK to fill in wat would have been "his" role, so now that he's gone, I don't know why would we not at the very least consider it.

DWill / Price
CJ / Almond
Brewer / Hayward
AK / Millsap
Okur / Koufos

^ I'm pretty sure Almond's main problem is he was a supposed shooter that could never shoot when he got PT.

Ya, Almond is a terrible idea. From what I've heard he had issues with the coaching staff and really got caught up in himself. He thought he was much better than he was.
