Byron Leftwich

Post#1 » by Ruben Douglas » Sat Feb 16, 2008 12:15 am

I really wan the guy on the Bears but this has to be brought up. Do you think the Bears will have interest in him?

As it stands, I assume these are the options at QB for the Bears...

Sign Grossman to a 1-2 year cheap deal and let him, Griese, and Orton battle it out.

Sign Grossman, drop Griese, and draft a QB (most likely Henne or Flacco)

Let Grossman walk and sign a FA, drop Griese, draft a QB.

Let Grossman walk and draft a QB, then let Orton and Griese battle it out.

I'm sure there are others but these make the most sense. I'm pretty sure we can rule out D.Anderson and McNabb, but Leftwich might be a guy the Bears would look at and try to use as a stop gag for the rookie we draft. And if he doesn't work out then just plug in Orton.

Then again, I guess there's always Trent Green.

Either way, it looks pretty dismal.

I don't think Byron Leftwich would be a bad idea. Yeah he's struggled like our QBs, but I think he can succeed on our team where he'll just have to manage the game. He's also been pretty decent in the clutch.

I would have said yes 2 years ago but I would rather have Grossman than Leftwich now.

I would rather have anyone but Grossman, but nothing stupid to waste money. I do not know what people can see in him that's positive.

I understand why people say "no" immediately. I guess I'd like to know what people want to have happen at QB this season.

I really want Joe Flacco. A lot of scouts are saying he could be a star in this league. It is a risk I am willing to take. Drafting big name quarterbacks obviously isn't working for Angelo.

I'm leaning that way as well, but who do you want to start next season?

I would start Griese although I think we are going to end up signing Grossman and starting him again.

If we're seriously looking at Leftwich then Cliff Levingston would rather sign Grossman for another couple years. He knows the system and played pretty well after the benching this past season. Give him an offensive line and maybe he does a little better.

Yea, our QB situation is piss poor.
