Trade Targets
Rumors of the Giants being interested in Corey Hart
http://baseball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ ... orey_hart/
Brewers open to trading Fielder
http://baseball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ ... de_offers/
I'd like to see the Giants make a run at Fielder if they think they can sign him long term at a relatively reasonable deal, but even if they don't they could enjoy a stud bat since the likes of Barry Bonds.
Who are you hearing they may target?
Who do you wish they would target?

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

Re: Trade Targets
They like Thomas Neal, Bumgarner and Jon Sanchez. Probably Posey too, but there's really no point in even asking.
Sabean has said that Bumgarner is off limits. Mychael Urban said the Brewers want Sanchez and Neal. I like that deal personally. There's nothing I'd like more than to see Sanchez become a stud pitcher, but I think he's proven that he'll forever be inconsistent. The problem of course becomes that fifth spot. Maybe we could also make a deal for an average starting pitcher.
Torres CF
Sanchez 2B
Huff RF
Fielder 1B
Posey C
Burrell LF
Uribe SS
Sandoval 3B
That's a better lineup than we've seen in a long time.
Lincecum
Zito
Cain
Bumgarner

Re: Trade Targets
I want Fielder to come here, obviously, but I'm scared Sabean is gonna give up way too much to get him. I'll explode if he gives up one of Posey or Bumgarner.

Re: Trade Targets
They asked for Sanchez and Neal, so there's no reason to give up more than that.
He's been pretty clear that he's not trading Bumgarner, and Posey is as untouchable as anyone in the league IMO.

Fielder is a Boras client by the way.

Re: Trade Targets
Honestly, I want nothing to do with Fielder due to him being a Boras client. He'll most likely bolt ASAP anyways. I think we need a SS off the bench with speed and good defense, and another guy in the bullpen.

Re: Trade Targets
Another bench player or a star batter who may cost a lot but may also finally take us over the hump? I think I'll go with Fielder. There's always the large possibility that he bolts after the season is done, but you don't get anywhere without taking risks. We should make a deal for him.

Yeah and he's wanting to exceed the Ryan Howard deal. Fielder's not worth 25+ million a year!!!! I'd rather pursue him when he's a FA. He's worth 15 to 18 mill a year, not 25+.
"We are not interested in free agents. We don't want to rent players. That doesn't make sense for us. We've got to find someone we can control, much like the Freddy Sanchez deal, and hope that presents itself." - Brian Sabean
David DeJesus - 30-years-old, no power, but hits for average. He's a Freddy Sanchez-type player but plays the OF.
Josh Willingham - 31-years-old, some pop in his bat.
Corey Hart - 28-years-old, nice power and decent average. I don't know if this years power is a fluke or if he's capable of sustaining this power surge. Until now he's been a threat to hit 20-25 HRs.

I wanted Willingham in the offseason. I think he'd be a good buy.

Do you guys think we will actually land one of these players before the trade deadline?

Re: Trade Targets
Well, if Fielder declined $100 Million, I doubt that the Giants would seek to get him long term, however depending on the price, they might be able to get him for the remainer of his current deal.

I will be so pissed if we trade either Bum or Sanchez for Hart.

Re: Trade Targets
Doesn't look like our rotation will be tampered with, which I like. I say we will target Jose Guillen or J Willingham or Dejesus -- those guys will never net a proven MLB starter. I also would not want to lose Wheeler for any of those players.
"It could be, if there are no changes," Bochy said. "I'm not looking to make a change. These are my 25 guys. We think this is a good team and at times underachieving."
Bottom line, Bochy wants to keep his rotation intact and not lose a starter for a hitter.
"It would be hard messing around with pitching," Bochy said. "Would it be easier with more depth? Who has that? We like our five starters and feel all the guys will give us a chance to win."

Re: Trade Targets
I think Bochy just tripped and landed in a good argument. That's a typical managers quote. It's the right one in our case though. We shouldn't be trading Sanchez unless it's for Fielder.

Re: Trade Targets
Geez, the asking price for sub-par players is getting ridiculous! I'm scared to get in this trade deadline frenzy. I think Panda's bat in the 2nd half may be the equivalent of a mid-season trade. Franchez's bat too, he needs to pick it up a bit.
I do believe we need a strike thrower in our BP. The only reliever I have faith to come in the game and throw strikes is Romo. I know Hoffman has been having a terrible season and could be had for cheap. I think our pitchers park could aid him well?
The Royals' steep asking price for David DeJesus: "a major league-ready prospect, along with at least one midlevel prospect or a pair of lower-level players." Another take on their asking price tweeted by Dan Hayes of the North County Times: an "ML-ready pitcher and a top prospect."

Re: Trade Targets
Lol at that asking price. What I take from that quote is that if we want this slightly above average outfielder we need to give up Bumgarner.
So we're not getting Dejesus. Oh well. Posey moving to catcher was our big move of the year, and I'm happy with that.

There were many other names floating in the slack waters of Lake Winnemuccatraderumor today: Ty Wigginton, Jorge Cantu, another helping of Corey Hart, some Bautista guy in Toronto who met the devil at the crossroads and suddenly has 26 home runs…
Just keep this in mind: Brian Sabean is a tire kicker of the first order. When the Michelin Man sees Sabes coming, he frantically hides the little Michelin children.
The Giants are exploring all avenues to improve their offense, and that means “checking off boxes” and “kicking tires” and “doing the due diligence voodoo that they do.”
Dunn would be awesome, but apparently they asked Chicago for Carlos Quentin and Gordon Beckham, so it would no doubt cost us Bumgarner.

I wouldn't even trade Beckham straight up for Dunn.
