Here is why we are a 50 win team NOW

Post#1 » by Knicksfan20 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:57 pm

**** you Lebron.

We have made some great additions this Offseason

Amare(Top 3-5 PF pending on who you ask, Athletic beast, Great Finisher, Good shooter, Can block shots and rebound, Good pick and roll player, has matured and looks healthy)

Randolph (This kid is a star in the making, there is a reason why GS is so upset at losing him. At 6'11, he has all the skillsets to be a star. Good shotblocker, Good Athlete, God handle for his size, Loves playing defense, Hes smarter then he looks(source GS board), good passer, good rebounder, boxes out. ANd most important he has a great work ethic, he is going to continue to improve. Stop comparing him to Camby please, they are nothing alike.

Mother Russia (Dont know much about him, but he looks to me as if he can be our Marc Gasol. He may not be as skilled as Gasol, but his build is similar, but Russia is a better athlete. a legit 7 footer who will block shots and protect the paint. I LOVE IT!

Raymon Felton (Great pickup, he can play fast pace and is an unselfish player, Our only true pg on the team and the first one we have had since Marbury if he can be considered as one. He greatly improved from the year before to last season, just taking a look at his FG and 3pt% compared to the past. He can break down the defense and create for his teamates. He is also a pretty damn good defender.

Buike (Great outside shooter, career 46% fg and over 40% 3pt shooter, great athlete, strong player, poor defender and is a chucker, idc if he chucks as long as he keeps shooting 40% from 3. Good pickup, and could be our starting 2 guard)

Turiaf (Strong, Athletic, Good defender, best shotblocking big per 48 mins. Hustle player, Good lockerroom guy, He is an underated aquisition. He will play 15-20 mins off the bench and we will love his heart and hustle. Can also hit the mid range shot if left open. Not much of an offensive player, but he will grind hard in the paint and play gritty defense.)

Rautins/Fields (2 smart players, I am a Syracuse fan and i love Rautins. He is a great shooter and a clutch shooter, Very good passer as well, Has alot of heart and plays Defense and hustles. I like the fields pick too, he played very well yesturday and i have liked him since before watching that game, i didnt really know him in college but i have heard alot of great things about him and seen some video after th draft. He is a craftly palyer, he knows how to score too with a variety of moves, He reminds me of Kevin Martin in that aspect.

Overall, i give the knicks an A for this offseason, Even though we didnt get Lebron, but outside of the Heat we have had the best offseason. This is the first time in years we have had a Complete team and teamates who compliment each other well. WE have shotblocking, we have shooting, we have a PG, We have defenders, we have Versitility. Walkers in great shape and has beenw orking on his game, Toney Douglas has been busting his ass along with Gallo. We have some young guys who will be better then last year as well.

Also, think about how many teams have gotten WORSE this offseasons by losing all their big players, while we have gotten better. The cavs who were a 60 win team are now a 20 win team, No bosh for Toronoto, The bulls have no depth, The nets are wasting their cap space on 3rd tier players. Bobcats lost their starting PG. Etc Etc.

I know all of you think we are a 500 team, but i think we are better then that. And its not because im biased either, im a realist. These passed years i knew we were going to suck, but this year is different.I love the new knicks roster, and im going to love it more when Melo hops aboard.

PS: sry for mispells, but my screen cuts off when i type more then a page of words and makes it hard, and am now late after writing this all, so i have no time to spellcheck.

I think we might win 42-45 games because of our athleticism.

50 wins I think is best case scenario. Your analysis seems to assume that every player hits their projected potential this season free of any injury. I think 40-45 wins is a more reasonable projection.. anything more is gravy; anything less is a disappointment.

The only way possible that I can see 50 wins is if Gallinari becomes a legit 1st or 2nd option. Besides AMar'e we really have nobody else that can get us easy points...

50 wins in this conference is going to be tough. If Gallo becomes Dirk-lite (he's still got a way to go), Randolph becomes a better offensive Joakim Noah, if Felton blossoms as a top 10 PG, the Knicks still aren't a 50 win team. Way too optimistic.

Expecting 50 wins gives us nothing to celebrate if we over achieve.

we have about as much a chance at winning 50 games as the Nets making the Finals this year. You're setting the bar way too high. I'm thinking 42-44 wins. Unless we pull off a blockbuster deal for Carmelo at some point, THEN we can start talking 50+ wins.

That Russian dude is nothing like M. Gasol, and we are NOT a 50 win team imo. That would put us at a 3-4 seed, I just don't see it with all the question marks on this team. No identity for this team man. Just saying don't be too sad when we don't win 50 games. Better to be realistic and enjoy overachieving.

Because since JVG coached us, we actually have a team?

A team where players fit certain roles and compliment each other on the floor?

Gallo's outside shooting with Amare's ability to finish down low?
AR's athleticism and defense next to Amare?
Chandler's midrange game next to Amare's ability in the paint?
Felton's experience, tough-mindedness, ability to drive the ball next to Gallo?

If we can sign Melo next year, we will be better off that Lebron did not come here. Lebron going elsewhere enabled us to get Randloph, Buke, Turiaf, the Russian, and Felton. Lebron is better than Melo but not that much to offset the additional talent we added this year.

Um...No it isn't.

For the new players added to the team, i talk about how they played LAST season and what kind of players they are. No where in my post do i talk about what stats they will average or how great they are going to be, for the first time in YEARS we have players that acually have VALUE.

Only players i talk about "projected potential" is our own players, and the only thing i have mentioned is how hard they have worked this offseason. We have a very good team now with players who complinent one another well, and also players who fit the system. We dont need superstars to be a 50 win team in the east. Like i said, a lot of teams have gotten worse and we have gotten way better.

I mean he must be right, Seeing how he is from the future

So you honestly think we are now a .500 team? we were almost a .500 team with Jamal Crawford leading this team untill he got injured, WE are better then a .500 team, you guys are all just too negative and use to losing to reconize what a good team looks like.

Willl we in a title? no. Will we win 50-55 games? maybe not, maybe 45-50 is a lil more realistic, but im not going to make a thread title saying "we are going to win 47 gmaes, heres why"

I think we have the potential to win 50, RIGHT NOW! With this current team. My opinion, and to say we have teh same chace to win 50 as the nets have a chance to win the title is just a stupid statement.

you think way too highly of our roster. To win 50 games in this league, you normally must have a go-to scorer (i.e. Melo, Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Duncan, etc) and a great defensive scheme. We don't know how Amare is going to fare without Nash, and there are no guarantees Gallinari is going to take some kind of quantum leap into stardom this season. Anthony Randolph just came off a 33 game season. There are so many unanswerable questions at this point that projecting 50 wins for the Knicks seems like an unrealistic fanboy pipe dream. Temper your expectations.
