Wrong about what? That we barely won 60 games. I'm not wrong we won 61. You're the one assuming that we would have won more. The last 4 teams we faced were Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, and Indiana. 3 of those teams were very capable of beating us.

I think this team as it stands right now would not make the playoffs. It was built to support a player who is no longer here, and while there are some good players, they dont look like they fit together well. Byron can make a difference, but they are too slow or old collectively to run, and too small to play half court offense. No low post threat.
Defensively they are too small to stop any team with a decent front court. I am not counting on Powe being effective in the first half of the season if at all, so we have Andy and no other big that has proven that they can defend the post, and Andy isnt that effective against the bigger stronger post players in the league.

I wont get into the last season argument, because it's in the past. What I will argue is that LeBron didn't win 60 games by himself. Someone on this forums said that the Cavaliers "barely" managed to win 60 games. I think that is wrong, but that doesn't matter. What does matter is that No other team in the NBA won 60 games last season.

Yes, we lost LeBron James. Looking at statistical analysis done by different writers, the common belief is that LeBron wins the Cavaliers 15-20 games a year over last two seasons (Hollinger's formula said LeBron won the Cavs 20 each season...that was the highest of all analysis' ).

So, if we subtract 20 wins from the Cavaliers, we then come up with 41 wins.

It is believed that Shaq added 2 wins last season (most...also from Hollinger). Subtract those and we now have 39 wins.

Most people are saying we are a 30-40 win team without LeBron. So, if we look at the statistics and the analysis given us by various people/sites, then what most people think is correct.

It is also believed that the Cavaliers could have won 7 more games last season with better coaching.

Let's assume we add a Byron Scott type SF like Andre Iguodala.

Iguodala was believed to add 13.5 wins to Philly last season (again, Hollinger's stat).

So, if we keep everyone that we have, and simply add Iguodala, then the Cavaliers go from 39 wins to 52.5 wins.

The Cavaliers will likely add a center in some form besides Kaun, so we will leave his number at 0.

It is common theory that each season after 2nd yr in league, that the average player will add 0.5 wins per year through his development, all the way through his prime. After the prime years, then games are removed, obviously.

If we are to accept this theory (which almost every NBA team subscribes to), then that would mean that Mo, Hickson, Varejao, and Gibson would each add 0.5 more wins to the team. 0.5*4+52.5= 54.5 Wins.


LeBron was awesome for the Cavaliers... a player that cannot be replaced. But, it isn't like he was the only player we could use to win with. The Cavs are still mostly young, and now they have a lot more flexibility. Depending on the moves...if they are good ones, and not knee-jerk decisions, then the Cavs will probably have a good year.

One player that we DEFINITELY need to stay as far away as possible from: Darren Collison.

You put too much faith in numbers. So did the people that invested in Enron. Just because Hollinger says something doesnt mean it is the gospel. What are the stats on players changing teams, and how does changing teams affect a players effect on wins in Hollinger's formula.
Many players who have changed teams have fallen off dramatically for whatever reason. You cant just say that Iguodala had a plus 13 effect on Philly so he will have a plus 13 effect in Cleveland.
I dont know what Bosh's plus was, but if you add that and Lebron's plus 20 and add it to Miami's win total last year what would you get? 75 or 80, or more? Its not realistic to just add a players plus total from one team to a players new team. Its apples to oranges Heath.
I would like to see this team go after Iguodala though, If Philly wants to trade him for the TE straight up I would definitely do that. He is a bit of a chucker from what I have read, but is a good defender and can run the floor and score. I think he would fit what Byron wants to do offensively here and is young enough to still be effective in a few years when hopefully we are able to contend again.
