Jeff Teague

Post#1 » by azuresou1 » Tue Jul 13, 2010 2:46 am

Deserves his own thread, seeing as he's pretty much the future hope for this team. First game tonight starting in Summer League vs. the Grizz who are fielding a very good team (for SL).

Here's to hoping that not only does he do well, but that he will thrive this season.

Watching the game. So far he's had a nice long jumper, tough layup in the lane and some really nice set up passes (not all were finished).

Pretty good defense on OJ Mayo too. Still needs more confidence in his shooting, I think, but it's a bit early to say.

Not getting to see Teague run the offense as much as I'd like because when he gives the ball up it never comes back.

Poor clock awareness at the end of the half. Some things are really Hawks trademarks and stay with us in every forum.

It's kinda sad when Josh Smith has the best clock management on our team. You know, our tweener forward who can't score efficiently outside of 8 feet and yet still hoists up two long jumpshots a game.

That 3 was just what I needed to see from Teague.

Teague looking pretty good, but a bit too casual. Crawford however looks confident and attacking.

Aminu looking pretty good (although needs to get in the weight room).

And as I write this, Tegaue pulls up for a sweeeet step back three and a bit of swagger.

edit: Pape Sy taking over in the 2nd half, off the dribble getting to the hoop.

Augistine actually kind of looks like an NBA level player.

Crawford still playing well, nice passing as well as a hot hand.

Commentators summed up Luke Jackson very well. Very good player that doesn't excel at any one thing, which is why he doesn't stick around. Nothing exceptional. I feel for him though, because he is a very good basketball player.

Back to Teague, I liked what I saw. Obviously there was room for improvement, lots of room, but he showed flashes of something special. I especially liked that he went for the dunk on Thabeet, even if he got stuffed.

Didn't watch but the Hawks SL roster looks watered down compared to Memphis. We basically have Teague+Crawford and a bunch of guys who are fighting for a 13th spot.

Why is OJ Mayo playing in the summer league BTW?

Fairly strong outing for a opener. Very efficient night from our forwards (Aminu, Hendrix, Augustine). Strong promise shown from Teague and Crawford. Pape Sy is really raw, but showed a few flashes. I'm interested to see how the players develop during the week.

Memphis wants to see how he runs the point. He's a better 2 guard if you ask me.

Yeah...that would probably explain the 8 turnovers.

Jeff Teague was average in his summer league debut. He still does not look NBA ready, has below average IQ, the last 1:15 in a close game he turns the ball over instead of taking his time and making sure the team gets a quality shot and on the next possession he forces it into the lane and delivers a bad pass .....This guy is a little better than Salim Stoudamire/Acie Law, which doesn't say much.

Pape Sy was very impressive. He handles the ball well, plays at a very steady and deliberate pace, understands half court basketball, does not force the issue, can defend the 1, and looks like a steal in the 2nd round.

Aminu also played well, he is very active around the basket, runs the floor well and plays well without the basketball.

Jordan Crawford is a very awkward looking player, although he is a righty, he dominates the ball with his left hand, he is a very good outside shooter and crafty on the break. He isn't very athletic and shows zero desire/ability to get to the rim/free throw line. Because he can shoot the long ball he should be a very good fit for this team.

Sergio Gladyir just looked lost out there.
