Standing Still...
How do you feel about the stagnance we have experienced in this 2010 offseason? The offseason where we have been told and expected some moves to be made. We were also told Mr. Alexander has opened up his checkbook to be a serious contender. I am normally not the one to complain about sitting still and am also typically more patient seeing as it has only been a week and a few days. However, everyone around us is improving, I understand we will be a better team with Yao back, but that is a serious maybe concerning his games played and how many minutes he will be on the court. Shane is another year older and has been losing a step more and more as the years pass. We were all in a daze about Bosh and it would have been very nice to have landed him, but all the eggs were put in his basket while other options were lost. Continually we have seen deals be made and rosters taking shape in a rapidly moving offseason and the quality of free agent dropping on a daily basis. There are great players in this league and we have many valuable assets, we should be able to make a significant move to acquire some talent in the front court and some insurance in the back court. I do understand the logic of waiting to sign our RFA but the problem is standing still is costing us valuable opportunities to compete. I still believe in Morey but I want to see a reason tofeel like we are going to be ready to go further in the playoffs than we have been in the recent past.
Go Rox 2010. In Morey I trust. ( despite my frustration )

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one thinking Morey may be dragging his feet. I understand the wait and see approach, but sometimes that can come back to haunt you. I also feel we need a backup center by training camp if we are going to cut Yao's minutes. Hill and PP would get raped at the five spot, but for some reason I feel they are trying to start the season with that being the case. Prove me wrong Morey.

Because teams are overpaying. We shouldn't follow the current trend of overpaying for marginal talents.

This.
I'd much rather Morey and Alexander hang back and scoop up a bargain in a week or two, than throw twice the going price at a lower-tier free agent.
Keep in mind--we've got a rather large addition to our roster next year, even without a free-agent signing or a trade.

Hello ladies. Look at your posts. Now back to mine. Now back at your posts now back to MINE. Sadly, they aren't mine. But if your posts started using Optimismâ„¢, they could sound like mine. This post is now diamonds.

With the big fellow back, we'll be a 50+ win team. Possibly with Homecourt. We should be fine.

Miller will decide by the end of the week

Perhaps we are waiting for him before we pursue other targets?

Minnesota is shopping Al Jefferson, theyve said they want nothing but draft picks in return and no salary. the rox can send them the Knicks picks whatever trade exceptions we have and some expiring contracts which should work the same as no salary back, if anything we can send them the cash to buy out the remainder of the contracts. then we'd have 2 7ft players, which gives yao time to work himself back slowly, and whenever he is back to normal then we have a stacked front court with 2 7ft players in our starting lineup and a crazy argentinian coming off the bench as our 6th man.

Al Jefferson is 6'10 on a good day.

The picture of Yao isn't a shot at only get half of the Yao we know back right? Or that we may only get half a season? Just askin..
I agree to not overpay for any free agent. I have been a member of this board for about 5 years now, and I only became a member after about 2 years of lurking, this board is not only my homepage but I probably hit this link any where between 30-40 times a day. I have been through all of the stressful offseasons, since I became an avid fan in the early 90s. I know the importance of making wise decisions in the offseasons and what can come of doing other wise. However, there is a blatant need for not only size in the front court but experience. We have Yao and Scola. Yao is injury proned, and Scola is not even on the roster at this point. Hill and Patterson are great players to develop but they ARE NOT back up big men on a legit contender. Hayes has no buisness playing center. He is a work horse and goes out there and does whatever is asked of him, and does a hell of a job doing it. There are big men to be had and the FO is not showing us anything that makes us believe they are pursuing anyone now other than Miller. They have lost out on Bosh, Amare, Lee, Chandler, Boozer, and now possibly Jefferson (who I am not that intrigued with anyways). All I see is:
Plan A. Bosh
Plan B. Miller?
At this point I want to hear that this front office is getting involved with talking to other teams about a trade that can net us a decent experienced back up C and PF.
Martin and Ariza are suitable wings if surrounded by the right people but we need a consistant scorer coming off the bench behind them. I love Budinger as much as any of you but he is not going to be a huge factor coming off the bench like a Jamal Crawford, Lamar Odom, whoever the sixth man this year is in SAS. I want to hear we are talking to Barnes, Bell, House, Allen, guys with experience being there, someone who can still contribute and give good minutes of scoring or defense.
Like I said, I trust Morey but give us something to work with.

That's exactly how I feel. It's sickening how low we're willing to settle with. I mean comon, Brad Miller? That's our Plan B?

Patience. Many good players might become available at the deadline. Like a Granger or even Paul. Morey has lots of assets he can work with to land a star.

Re: Standing Still...
You guys relax.
Morey has said they have 6 backup plans, and I believe him. Besides, the past 2 weeks has been Idiots On Parade. You don't want to get caught up in that fervor. Regardless, it's not just "Bosh or Miller".
Personally, I hope they wait until a couple of months into the season. Lots of teams start the season with dreams of grandeur, then, as those dreams fade with the dawn of reality, they start looking to make moves. "We're going to be awesome" morphs pretty quickly into "sure would be nice to have some cap space". And injuries force teams to make moves out of need - real or imagined.
I have no problem with waiting.
