Sources: Bryant, Bell to meet

Looks like Kobe is doing some recruiting of his own. This is good news and a sign that he is certainly looking forward to building a team to take down the Heat and re-cementing his legacy. Love it

Go Kobe Go

No need to re-cement though. That foundation is solid and reinforced. He's ready to add "a wing" ;)

Who has to 'take Down' the Heat?... Did they win a championship already that I didn't hear about...

Oh, that's right... We're the 2008-2010 back to back, NBA, National Champions...

There's nobody higher than us to 'Take Down'...

We own this...

True, but just the fact that according to everyone I know that are not Lakers fans "they are the favs to win it all" I'm sure Kobe has heard this too

Cats fan here,

I hope Bell will join your team. He would be a great addition to your backcourt and it would be awesome to watch him and Artest giving hell to opponent superstars. Don't let anyone tell you Bell "slowed down" or is "done". He's still one the top notch defenders and best shooters in the league.

I hear what you're saying and am not directing anything at you. 8-)

I just think it's time for Lakers fans to stop getting caught up in all that and just remember that Wade, Bosh and LeBron went to all this effort to beat US... We're on top of this mountain looking down. The Lakers and Kobe have nothing to prove... All the pressure is on the Heat to knock us off...

We'll be ready, will they?

So Raja, get on board or get out of our wake already, we got work to do...

Hmm if we sign him does that mean our chances of keeping Shannon die?

If I understand correctly we have Browns Bird rights so we can sign him if we want to pay him...

And we can offer Bell the Vet Min which I believe is 1.8/yr...

We can offer the same 1.8 to as many Vets as we want too if I'm not mistaken.

Close, you had the right idea, b/c Bell would take the 1.8 a year. I doubt Shannon would take a min contract then b/c he opted out of just around 2 million this season to become a FA.

1. We have early bird rights, which is close to bird, but we have to sign him to 2 years minimum and only have 5 years as a max. Bird rights let you sign someone for 1 year and a max of 6.

2. We can offer Bell a contract of up to five years with 8% raises starting at 1.765 million b/c that is what is left out of our MLE after we signed Blake.

3. I think bell has been in the League 10+ seasons now so the value of a minimum contract for him would be 1.35 million a season where as a 2nd round or undrafted rookie could be signed for 473k and a 5 year player would be 993k. Each milestone up until 10+ seasons increases the minimum pay. A minimum contract can be up to two years as well, each at the same minimum salary. So he'd get 1.35 for two seasons max and then become an FA again.

Fisher/Blake
Kobe/Bell/Sasha
Artest/TMac/Walton
Gasol/Odom
Bynum/?

Wow... would be a hell of a bench. So much better than least season.

i think kobe wants bell so bad now is becuase hes lookin towards facing the heat in the finals and he doesnt wanna have to guard wade virtually the entire game and it would tire him out esp. over a 7 game series, so bell could come in with kobe and artest so kobe can guard an eiser player

I lean this way too...

Mainly because of the clothes-line though... It was a puss move...

But if I'm honest, what really bothered me about that was that no other Laker lifted a finger... In Baseball, if a pitcher beans your guy, the next time he's up, no matter who's pitching, he gets beaned...

Bell should have absolutely been chewing hardwood the very next time he was in the paint...

So if Kobe's willing and given his shooting ability, I guess I can give Bell a chance.

Some of you guys are angry that Kobe got clotheslined by Bell. Kobe probably doesn't even care about that anymore. The only thing he remembers is that some guy had balls to do it.

Well played... But I raise you Lakers 'TALENT' scout Bonnie-Jill.... Ahhh, it's good to be the Champs...

And if she doesn't make up for Jeanie's lack of availability, one need only hang around Jerry Buss for scraps... 8-)
