Hopefully filler doesn't mean Jordan Hill.
Budinger, on the other hand..

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 24)
seems to be alot more trade/free agent movement this year...some real changes this offseason across the league.
Seems like we are taking the will listen on anyone mentality then why then come after iguodala we say no. I like Ariza actually but the filler they could offer doesnt excite me.

Thats another deal i'd do in a heartbeat. Ariza is becoming a lights out shooter from deep and he doesn't need the ball to do so. As for the filler i'd be happy with Chuck Hayes or some other low post defender.

We need to be getting at least one 1st round pick with Ariza.

True but I think Iguodala is the more explosive player while Ariza is the better outside shooter.

willing to give Ariza and filler.
Still sounds like we are trying to move thad or kapono instead.
I think Ariza, Hill, salary filler, and a couple picks would be okay. Ariza has a pretty good contract, Hill could be sent elsewhere for a center, and we could grab the NY package of picks or something to grab some more young assets.
I'd like to see Kapono moved for a big though ideally. That way it gives us a few more minutes and another year to see what Thad can do and make a decision on him.

That would be too much to ask for from Houston.

No deal, then. If they want to get the far better player, they will need to add more value.

Look. Iguodala is not the far better player. It's a fairly even trade if you ask me. If Houston was to offer up Chuck Hayes (a good low post defender/rebounder) we would be getting fair value.

Ariza is no where near the player Iguodala is.
I would do Ariza and Hayes for Iguodala.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 24)
Yeah...Iguodala is the far better player, IMO. Even a quick eye-ball of the numbers would confirm that...and even in the one area where Ariza is perceived to be better, he shot less than 40% from the field and only 33% from 3 last season (he's a 32% career 3-point shooter...which is the EXACT same percentage as Iggy).
I definitely need more than Ariza.

Ariza is a similar type of player. he is not as good, but he is also paid 5M less per year. But with the Sixers well over the cap, I'm not sure if the 5M becomes any additional talent or cap space. I guess it would depend on the overall bigger plan (if Stefanski even has one beyond waiting out Brand's contract.)

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 24)
Iguodala is the far better player. Ariza is not even a better shooter. Their jumpshot efg percentages were identical last season, and Ariza was assisted more often. Unless you're just going off of his playoff performance with the Lakers, which was probably a fluke, they are equal shooters. Ariza also had 49% true shooting last season, which is absolutely horrible. Iguodala is the better ball-handler, the better passer, the playmaker, simply the far better player overall. Houston was a solid team despite Ariza's play, not because of it. No way do I trade Iguodala for him unless there is a significant amount of value attached.

All i'm saying is that Ariza would be better for our current team. Chuck Hayes would add some much needed depth in the frontcourt despite being a short 6'6.
Reasons why I think Ariza might be a better fit for us would be mainly because he spaces the floor for us and gives us a big time shooter from beyond the arc. He jacked up 400 threes last season and his percentage was not all that high but I think it was because they were trying to use him as a number one option when he clearly is not. After they got Kevin Martin, Ariza seemed to settle down a bit. Ariza is also a capable defender for his position so we wouldn't be lacking in that area if we did get him. My question is would he start or would Thad start?

Yea, Ariza and filler is definately a low ball offer.
Hey sixersfan, you said before that the Clips were interested in Deng. Did you get that from the news reports a couple weeks back? Or did you hear that from your source? thanks
