Possible Scenarios for JRich Trade?
I've been following several supposed "insiders" on a couple of forums now. Their comments, in addition to sheer common sense (Childress is a competent starting SG on an excellent team), suggest that a JRich trade is in the works.
- Traxxe (here) says "stuff is happening" but he's honor-bound not to talk about it. Furthermore, he actually seems to be happy with what is going on.
- Matt Self (on ASFN) has gone harsh on JRich all of a sudden...
- Also, the Suns have contacted Raja about joining the team.
Now that Al Jefferson appears to be off the market, who would you like at the PF position? I can think of several possible candidates--but not being a capologist, I'm not sure which are realistic and which are "dumb"
- Scola -- an ideal target for sign-and-trade, especially if he's to play next to Turkey. But would Houston actually trade him? What would they ask for in return, beyond JRich?
- J.J. Hickson -- it's easy to laugh, but bear with me...the Cavs need more firepower now that LeBron is gone, and may want to re-sign JRich. Of course, Hickson alone isn't enough in return for JRich...
- Anderson Varejao -- ...but Varejao is, along with salary filler. Probably a pipe dream, though. But Cleveland looks like a franchise in disarray. They might do anything.
- Al Horford or Josh Smith -- another pipe dream, but do the Hawks need anything that the Suns would be willing to give up? They might know that these two are both due for salary increases (TBD how much under the new CBA), where JRich might be re-upped for cheaper. Sure, JJ plays SG but why not run JRich and JJ parallel to each other?
- Kirilenko -- does he have anything left in the tank? With Millsap and Jefferson still there, would he be available? A JRich/Deron backcourt would make Utah just a bit too scary, though...I'd also grab Millsap instead of AK47.
Any other thoughts?

I think David west is the guy the uns are looking at because of contract and gameplay. his salary goes down after this season.

I think David West is who we're looking at too.
Josh Smith is a knucklehead, but geez would he be great in our system. Doubt he's for sale, unless you know something different.
Horford is perfect defensive anchor for this team. I would love to see him here. No way the Hawks let him go.
Antawn Jamison would be a better fit than West: he's a much better rebounder, he might be had for the right price. Note: he's also 34 and under contract this season and next.

Re: Possible Scenarios for JRich Trade?
I could see us looking at David West as well. He averaged the same as Jefferson last year 19 and 7.5. He's inconsistent kinda like Amare but we'd be used to that. I'd offer J rich plus a pick for West. I'd hate to see J rich go but unfortunately that's the only player that works salary wise and when you figure in what New Orleans wants I suppose. They could re up Richardson keep him with Paul form a good backcourt.
I'd rather trade Childress and Warrick or Childress and Frye to be honest but I'd take J rich and a pick for West.
Our lineup would be
Nash Dragic
Childress Dudley
Hill Turkolgu
West Warrick
Lopez Frye
I like the idea of having Hedo come off the bench and be our 6th man capable of taking over a game off the bench.

No chance Hedo doesn't start.

Your (Please Use More Appropriate Word) if you don't want to see how amazing a Nash/Smith alley oop looks every game. Josh Smith is THE perfect type of player we need at the starting PF. Strong, excellent defender, above average rebounder, excellent finisher, terrible shooter (forcing him to play inside). He's fast, and apparently he's become much smarter than his earlier, idiotic self. If we can somehow use the TPE and get this guy, along with giving up Clark/J-Rich/2nds to get it sealed (with additional pieces coming back ofcourse) then you do it.
Nash/Dragic
Childress/Dudley (if JRICH is gone too)
Hedo/Hill/Dudley
Smith/Warrick/Lawl
Lopez/Frye/Lawal
That looks solid to me, especially if we can keep JRICH. Just give them Clark/TPE/Picks and get that done...
That team, to me, looks better than what we had last year by miles. We upgrade defensively AND offensively at the wing, plus our depth of quality front court players also increases. Instead of having Lou be the backup PF, we have Warrick, who is clearly an upgrade (no matter how much we all love Lou). Not to mention, I strongly believe alongisde Nash, Smith is definitely an upgrade over Amar'me, especially in the defense and rebounding.

Yeah you're probably right.
A lineup with Nash Childress Turkoglu West/Jamison and Lopez is good. I like it

Re: Possible Scenarios for JRich Trade?
sd 1306 you can't combine players with the TPE. Josh Smith is a cancer in the lockerroom and although he might be a great fit here I don't see him fitting in with this team chemistry wise. He has such a terrible jumper we'd have to tell him don't shoot only drive only catch alley oops only rebound play defense block shots.

You are terribly mistaken my friend. As a young player in the league, he was selfish and trying to do things he couldn't do. After Woodson moved him to the PF spot when Horford came along, he's starting to understand his limitations, and he's become much more of an inside player. His shot is pretty terrible, but he isn't a complete liability with his midrange game, so teams can't just leave him open. Chemistry wise, I think he's matured enough where if he's the second best player on the team, and can put up those kind of stats, I believe he wouldn't care about much else.

Re: Possible Scenarios for JRich Trade?
The big men we could use would be: David West, Antawn Jamison, Luis Scola, Jason Thompson, Al horford, Josh Smith(if he got his head on straight).
I think West or Jamison are the most likely Houston wants to keep Scola I'm pretty sure.

I would love Horford in PHX... however, I see no chance at all of that happening.

I think J Rich stays put unless our experiment doesn't work. In season trade, if traded at all.

Re: Possible Scenarios for JRich Trade?
wouldn't mind picking up anthony parker and JJ Hickson for JRich. yea the contracts dont add up but im sure they can handle in some fillers, plus extra cap space is helpful.
Anthony Parker is a great 3-point shooter n decent perimeter defender n he can run n put some size on other guards.
There's a reason why LeBron loved JJ Hickson. He hustles, rebounds, plays defense, n can score. pretty good all-around player. Plus put him under Nash, n he'll do great.
Nash/Dragic
Parker/Childress
Hill/Dudley
Hedo/Hickson
Lopez/Frye

Our lineup would be

A few things:
-No way in hell Turkoglu comes off the bench. Likewise with Grant Hill. Both will be starters even if David West is here at PF. Dudley is not suited to play SG and therefore Josh Childress will remain the backup SG. If JRich is traded for a power forward, look for this lineup to roll:
G Nash and Dragic
G Hill and Childress
F Turkoglu and Dudley
F West and Warrick
C Lopez and Frye
11th Clark
12th Lawal
13th Third-String Point Guard
Good thing with that lineup is that both your SG's are 6 foot 8! Nice!

That's a joke, correct?
Hedo gets paid 9 million to sit as third stringer while Suns somehow get money to sign Lou?
lol

Re: Possible Scenarios for JRich Trade?
I've been thinking that for awhile, Grant Hill can play as our starting SG and not even miss a beat. He often times ends up defending SG's anyway, his size at that spot will just create another mismatch for opposing defenses. A Steve/Hill/Turk/West/Lopez lineup would be a dream come true. Not to mention our bench is even better than last year, it's a scary prospect I know.

Re: Possible Scenarios for JRich Trade?
On a couple different forums, there has been talk and articles about the Suns possibly looking at Raja Bell (Lakers are too). If that's the case, then the Suns HAVE to be looking at dealing J-Rich too. With that, they could do a S&T deal with Golden State of J-Rich for Bell and probably Biedrins (salary wise that brings us a big man - especially since they can't trade David Lee).
