Nuggets land Al Harrington

Post#1 » by eathb_au » Wed Jul 14, 2010 5:10 am

ESPN.com sources: Nuggets win race to Al Harrington and have agreed to terms w/Harrington on five-year deal worth $34 million

Not a bad signing i guess. Doesn't really solve any defensive/rebounding problems.

Can start or come off the bench. This will be the first time we give Melo a PF/C that can shoot.

Al Harrington is NOT a Center. He's more a Small Forward/Power Forward IMO.

lol when was he a center???

he's 6'9". obviously kleiza's replacement since we couldn't grab a real pf/c.

is this **** for real, 30 year old defenseless harrington for 34/5year? **** me.

this better mean smith/kmart is going bye-bye for a pf/c or melo is going with them.

Just wondering if you guys are going more uptempo this year?

Ok signing. Will get big minutes at the start of the season while K-Mart and Bird are still recovering for surgeries. When K and Bird return, we will at least have 4 bigs that can come in and provide quality minutes. FO still needs to sign a 5th big for a vet min, preferably a guy that's around 6'10-7'0 and a true C.

Not that bad defensively actually. When trying, he can be very effective. Hopefully a winning atmosphere can help make that a regular thing. As of right now, we have more depth than we did last year when KMart does come back. Harrington can fill in nicely until he is back and then still bring some scoring off the bench and allow us to spread the floor alot more, which is something Melo has never had here and could be great for his game. Its not the best move, its rather pricy but its an impactful move and probably one of the more talented players that is still available. we've wanted him to an extent since his days with the pacers.

Al Harrington cannot spell the word "pass."

it seems they're trying to prove to melo that they're still contenders. i mean, i'm semi-happy with this just have to wait what else the fo can do during this summer.

it also seems we can never get a legit power forward/center, always getting these halfsies.

I know it sounds obvious but I just read the Nuggets want to match it and the news it recent. Maybe they want Kleiza at the 3 and Harrington at the 4 and plan on shedding someones contract.

Just because he played on the Knicks way out of position, it does not make him a center.

Overpaying for a backup. Then again so has everybody else this summer.

I'm pretty sure he will play close to 30 minutes being a combo-forward. We'll see how he does but as of right now i'd say it was a good move.

Billups/Smith/Melo/Harrington/...

Thats a unit that would put up 40 in a quarter.

that's why we put up afflalo instead of smith.

well that's the idea..

unless of course kmart goes down and bird would be needed off the bench, it would depend from game to game. if he starts over kmart, our defense goes down the sh***er.

(not trolling)

Thanks guys!

I have no idea what our FO is doing so it's good to see that he landed on your team even though I'm not sure if you like it either.
