Cavs sign Rockets restricted free agent guard Kyle Lowry to a four-year offer sheet worth around $24 million, league source told Y! Sports.

...to an offer sheet.

I can dig it. He's a real hardnosed player and I would love to have the guy on our team, but I have a feeling the Rockets match.

The Rox will match...Lowry is such a good compliment to Brooks.

Lowry would be an excellent addition for Cleveland and would allow Mo Williams to slide to SG.

But, as mentioned, the Rockets will match. Les Alexander (Houston's owner) loves Lowry. So do us Rockets fans.

A 6' guard that shot less than 40% last year and has never averaged more than 10 ppg or 4.5 apg making $6 million/year? He's a luxury to have on a contending team but hardly someone the Cavs need as it would make the Lowry/Williams backcourt the shortest in the NBA.

Another OMG his stats sucks post

Please watch some Rockets game before making such non-sense post. Lawry is probably the best non-starting point guard out there, he's a tremendous defender even with his limited height, but he's definitely one of the strongest if not the strongest point guard out there.

As someone who watched 50+ games in the last 2 years, here is what I think about him

Pros
Play with heart every single night
A true team player that will sacrifice anything to win
Strong
Great penetration because of his frame built
Great defender in his position ( occasionally play D on two guard)
Making good decision
A pretty good rebounder for his size

Cons
He can't shoot the long range shot even if its wide open
Become little too passive sometimes out there on the court
Dun have any real potential left other than slightly tweaking his shots
His game is at his best when he is coming out of the bench

Last but not least, we will match the offer

Houston should undoubtedly match the offer. I'd be surprised if they didn't.

Don't be ignorant about Lowry. He is easily good enough to start, and is only 24. He is a very hardnosed and physical defender, despite his height. He is quite aggressive in driving towards the basket, and loves to push the ball, and is not turnover prone either. He can get to the free throw line easily, and shoots a good % at the line as well. The only big knock on him is that he's not a good shooter, and has very little confidence in his shot when left wide open behind the arc. From midrange, he is a lot better.

With a starting role, he could easily average 12 ppg, and 7 apg.

He's definately worth 6 mil. I'll elaborate on some of things lowry does well.

This guy is a human bowling ball. He looks for contact and can finish at a high rate. He's a very good defender. He pushes the transition game very well. Expect a lot of fast breaks when he's on the court. He's a good passer, nothing flashy, but can find the open man when he penetrates. He supposedly has a decent midrange jumpshot, but it hasn't been going in this year. He can not shoot the 3. He is a fairly good rebounder considering his position.

He comes off the bench and has a +on/off court rating of 5.9

He's also one of those hustle guys and will not take a night off.

This is classic Lowry

Smart move by you guys. Good chance Rockets match, but they MAY not, if they have to pay Scola a small fortune.

Seems like a desperation move to sign him for that much, especially for 4 yrs. That being said, I do expect Houston to match. In addition this is one of those moves that kinda signals that Delonte will not be here next year.

Why!!!!!!! Undersized but hardnosed! Come on the center position has Andy and who? Deal with needs. Trade the longterm contracts for expiring and draft well that is the way to get back. Take away the LeBron Pick and JJ. Who was a contributing person drafted by the Cavs? In order to win you need studs and the draft needs to take care of that. Lowry is a backup need a starter to have a backup. This is not a time to use up money instead watch teams and trade the exception.

Could Lowry be consider Eric Snow lite... the Philadelphia version, not the Cleveland one?

-I hardly see this as the only move the Cavs make. They likely will be making some trades.
-There arent a lot of other guys out there.

I like this guy. Its funny because he is basically the exact opposite of Mo. He is a great defender but cant shoot, just like Mo is a great shooter but cant defend.

This is the guy Scott wants for his offense. That seems like reason enough to pursue him.

I was looking on the Rockets board and the consensus was 'that is more than I thought he should get, but we have to match'. That's a sign of a good offer. There could always be a S&T with them coming too. How about a Shaq/Yao twin tower lineup?

Is Scott thinking that Lowry could be Rondo-lite? I would imagine that he is planning on running a lot of PnR next season. Gibson would look nice off the bench behind Lowry, so I can only assume that Mo would be moved.

It is VERY unlikely that Houston will match this offer. They'd like to... but their problem is that if they do, it guarantees their salary cap to be about 62 million without Mike Harris or Alexander Johnson's unguaranteed contracts, and without knowing what Scola's final cap number will be.

I know that many of you think that Houston is going to match, and that I am dead wrong, but I am not. Houston will try to figure out a trade with the Cavaliers instead. It may be for part of the TPE (doubt ful Cavs will do this, unless as a last resort. Guess we'll see how good Grant is, eh?), or it may include a smaller part of the TPE and a player that the Rockets could use...like Anthony Parker. The Rockets have Kevin Martin at SG, and nothing after him. Ariza was played out of position for much of last season because of the Rockets' lack of a SG.

One Scenario is A.P. for Lowry, (3.2M trade exception) and a future 2nd rounder.

^^^Your crazy man.

Who do you think Houston is going to roll with at backup PG? I still think the team will match and continue to try and sell high on AB.

What you fail to notice is that cap figures don't particularly matter to the Rockets (at least not to their owner Les Alexander). It'd be nice for him to be under the luxury tax this season, but the owner has indicated he wants Scola and Lowry back at all costs.

Quite frankly, from a basketball perspective, Lowry is an ideal fit as a back-up for Aaron Brooks and the Rockets would be unable to make up for his loss through any deal unless it was for a star PG.

They will match because it makes sense from a basketball perspective and because the owner said so. Cap figures and the luxury tax is a distant worry for Houston at the moment.
