Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 35)
This may be cold to say, but those playoff series against Detroit in 2008 and Orlando in 2009 are very fresh in my mind. Yes Iguodala hit a tremendous game winning shot in Game 1 in 2009, but in many of those other games his weaknesses were severely exposed. Plus I have a problem overvaluing a guy who will never average 18 ppg or 10 rpg or 8 apg on a serious playoff contender, which is Iggy to the letter. He could make up for it if he were DPOY (which may be what Collins has in mind), but he freelances too much to me for that to happen (I would love a stat showing the 3 point percentage of the person he is defending).
Do I want to go give him away for the five and dime special - no. But are we seriously talking a top 5 draft pick and cap room for him? C'mon.....we couldn't get a top 5 pick for him BEFORE the draft (or otherwise we would have the Turner and Cousins thread). So yes, he is better than Ariza, but if Houston is offereing a developmental big in Hill and an expiring in Jeffries, throw me in the boat with SF76 and let's get the Jrue and the Villain show started.

Wait, so are the Sixers serious about trading Iggy now?

They are listening but prefer to move Thad or Kapono. They wont ignore a good Iggy offer though.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 35)
Here's the thing, Iguodala can be a a key member in this team. He can come out this year, play off the ball, and show intensity on defense to be a Top 5 defensive player in the NBA. If he does that, we do NOT need to trade him. That is why I'm fine with keeping him because I do want to see how he works out with Iguodala. At the same time, I have qualms on if Iguodala is going to be willing to move from the #1 option to the #3 or #4 option in the future. Because if we want to win a title, he is going to have to be the #3 or even the #4 option. I just want to see Iguodala have numbers like 15-16 PPG, 6 RPG, 5 APG while providing great defense. That is why I would be fine with Ariza because he would be playing the same role. If we didn't have Turner and it was Ariza for Iguodala straight up, I wouldn't even think about doing it. But when all you need is someone who can do a little bit of everything, Ariza can also fill that role at a cheaper price. If it was Ariza, Jeffries, and a 1st for Iguodala I would be fine with that. But I do want to see Iguodala and Turner play before we go and trade someone like Iguodala. We shouldn't be in any hurry to do any move. And Iguodala's stats won't start to suck this year...if anyone is going to be hindered it will be Turner imo.
So we can take our time, look at some deals, go into the season with Iguodala. If Iguodala/Turner works, great. We have a young, athletic, defensive terror perimeter. If not, I think Turner's stats will be the ones that drop while Iguodala's will still be the same. So Iguodala's market won't drop.

I think they really like Ariza and he would have to be in the deal. Collins likes Battier too but the fear with him instead of Ariza is not enough scoring.

Ariza is a good player and fits the defensive mold Collins is looking for. For that matter, so does Battier, who also happens to be a great team leader. The problem is that it does nothing to upgrade the perimeter shooting. To me, Ariza is a nice start, but there just isn't enough else to excite me unless a 3rd team is brought in. Perhaps someone like A. Brooks if Philly was inclined to incude Lou Williams and dump more salary. Still doesn't do a lot for me though.

By all means let's trade our best player for a guy who is one year younger and would be like the 5th best player on our team.

wes johnson would fit perfectly next to jrue and turner.. way better than iguodala... thats probably the only way i trade iguodala is if i get wes johnson back in the deal.. hell i would even throw in green or kapono's expiring for wes and TPE

Sixerfan, do the Clippers have any interest in Thad? A Clipper fan on here proposed Thad for jordan which I think is fair for both teams.
I thought before that after a draft pick signs he cannot be traded for 60 days, but I think it is actually 30 days.

I think that's selling Thad low... Deandre's 'flashes' of brilliance have been few and far between. He's a 5 & 5 guy. I think that's a move we'd regret down the road.

Was thinking the same thing with Thad...don't want to give up both he and iguodala, but it isn't a bad move.
I'm fine with keeping iguodala, but if you can flip him,Smith and a future 1 for ariza, jefries, hill and Koufos it is worth considering. Not crazy about hill but if you can get him to work itcould be a great deal.

Totally agree. I'd like to take a flier on Jordan, but that's all it is. Young is way more proven and that be dumping him on the cheap. Personally, I kind of want to see the new, bulked up Young before they move him unless a no brainer deal comes around, which is doubtful.

Good. That means he can get in the gym, get back in shape, work on his game and make some adjustments. No more of this he's-out-of-shape business.

Whats the rule about players being re-traded. Koufos can be re-traded..but doesnt it have to be in a deal where he is the only one leaving? If so...who would you trade from our current roster for him? Jason Smith?
Assuming the deal was Iguodala for Johnson, Koufos, and a TPE (and whatever else in either direction. These are just the important elements for timing) I suspect the teams would do Iguodala for Johnson and a TPE of $12.3M or so, and then as a follow-up trade, the Sixers would acquire Koufos with $1.3M of the TPE, leaving us with an $11M TPE, Johnson, and Koufos.
Sorry fellas, Johnson has been signed and realistically isn't going to be offered in an Iggy deal. From our perspective that would be like trading Big Al + Johnson for Iggy, since we just moved Big Al to get the necessary cap space to absorb a player like Iggy.

Re: The Sixerfan1976 Off-Season Thread (Update: Page 35)
That is pretty far fetched... Why on earth would Minny just trade Wes Johnson after drafting him???
If we are dealing with the TWolves i'm asking for Sessions or Flynn along with Corey Brewer in return...OR... Iguodala straight across for Kevin Love.

yeah i never thought wes johnson was part of the discussion.
krapinsky,
you hearing anything out of minny as to what minny is offering?
as for sixer trade likelihood..i was just fed the company line..we wont make a trade just to make a trade..has to make sense short and long term for us.
great....

Sorry, nothing has been reported yet. Sessions is on the wire right now, so it's probably one step at a time. However, my general speculation would be future protected firsts (Utah/Mem), cap relief, Koufos, and one of Brewer or Webster. Koufos would have to be traded subsequently for part your TPE. If it's Webster you take in the deal then we'd be very close to being able to take on Kapono as well. I realize it's not a very moving offer, but I don't think we can afford to offer much more than that after dumping Al for so little.
