Backup Center
Instead of signing Kurt Thomas or any of the other less than stellar centers that are left out there I was thinking, why not try and bring back Ronny Turriaf in this scenario:
Ronny Turriaf (1 yr. 4 mill remaining)
for
Sasha Vujacic(1 yr. 5.5 mill remaining)
I think both teams could benefit. Ronny is a big powerful body who doesnt need many minutes to be effective. When he is injected into the game he brings amazing energy and emotion, great asset to have. I think he would be a perfect fit. The Knicks would have an extra 1.5 mill coming off there payroll next year too, perhaps enough to persuade the Knicks? MITCHHHHH?

Re: Backup Center
Then we need a back up SG. We are better off getting a 2nd tier big than a 2nd tier SG.

Re: Backup Center
How does having an extra 1.5 coming off their payroll matter at all to the Knicks if Turiafs contract expires this year too?

Re: Backup Center
a 5.5 mill dollar expiring contract is better than a 4 mill dollar expiring contract?

Only if you're able to flip it for a 5.5 salaried player, but even then I think a trade partner would prefer the cheaper 4mil one. A 12 mil dollar contract you simply allow to come off the books is equal to a 800k contract you let come off the books.

Re: Backup Center
If Lakers really want to mess up the Heat they should make an offer to Joel Anthony high enough that the Heat can't match.

Why does everyone want 6'9" bigs?

He plays like he's 7'0 and runs like a deer. He's a ball of energy, is all over the place and is one of the best screen setters I've seen. Last season he must have been called for a moving screen under 20 times and anytime you see Wade driving off the pick look at who's setting the screen.

We have a 6'9" big. Getting called for moving screen is about the guard, not the big.

Re: Backup Center
Why not just bring back DJ. He is a good shot blocker. Can hit the 15 footer and runs the floor well. All we need to do is give him some playing time and he could be a 7 point and 5 rebound guy. We do not have money to try to out bid others.
1.8 million over 5 years is 9 million. I guess you can not do that.

Moving Turiaf would erase more like 4.5 mil not 1.5 as stated above. If they are serious about getting Melo for Max (Lala wants to stay in NY), that along with Eddys 11 mil expiring get them much closer!

I'd like to see another Big Body for Insurance that is not name Powel, Mbenga.
We someone who can bang down low and rebound and play d.
If Bynum goes down in the playoffs or before we will be thin.
