Why? He sucks.

Have you noticed that no one is offering him anything? It's because he sucks.

Damn your so negative about everything. I think he does fine given the playing time he receives, or lack there of. He's still young and hes as athletic as they come, his WOW plays and amazing dunks infuse our whole team with energy and often changes momentum in our favor. That alone is very valuable. I Also think when Kobe missed those 5 games or so he stepped it up big and proved that hes solid. I agree that his 3 point shooting wasnt that impressive this year but i think he has the ability to be good in that department. Ifyou remember in our 09 championship run he was lighting it up from deep. Hes a good bench player for us.

What type of player would you leave open? Because Barnes has shot over 35% from 3 exactly once his entire career

My problem with the way we handled Miller was that we didn't offer him the full MLE. There was no reason to short change a player of his caliber, and on top of that we didn't even wait for his answer after giving him a deadline. We just signed Blake once he agreed.

I don't know what our real chances were of landing Miller, but I felt we didn't do all we could to get him.

I said before the season started that our primary focus should have been to find a backup for Kobe and/or some lights out shooters. We didn't come through on either so that's the reason for my disappointed. PG was not a genuine need. Fisher and Farmar were adequate, so we could have pursued others and traded Farmar/Vujacic at a later time for an upgrade at PG (that would be enough to get Hinrich, IMO). Others might disagree, but we have bigger holes with our reserve SG/SF than we did our reserve PG. We have literally no one to come in for Artest and Kobe at this point.

Anyway, I truly hope Blake works out. I'll expect nothing less than 40% from downtown and solid play-making/smart decision-making.

Barnes turned down more then 1.8mill from Orl and they're not some lottery team last time I checked, PnG isnt that appealing when you trying to get PAID as evident by Bell signing with Utah.

Bell >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.> barnes.

seriously even though LA could use talent on the bench. barns does not shoot the 3 consistently wel and banres is a better perimeter defender. if LA does not sign another solid backup 2/3 who can shoot it won't be a great offseason

Well what can we do because everyone is out for money even Blake. Also we had no takers for Morrsion what makes you think we will have a taker for Sasha might as well let him walk. Also stop being picky because now we have to resign Shannon and/or sign Barnes because we have no choice.

I know. It sucks, but that's how my brain is wired. Nothing I can do about it so I just roll with it and let all that negativity out on message boards... lol.

Better here than in real life. ;)

Regarding Shannon, perhaps he'll work better next to Blake than Farmar. My problem with Shannon is that he makes poor decisions on the court. He absolutely kills ball movement when he gets the rock so he just has to learn how to move the ball and play his role better, which is basically the same as what Trevor did for us.

Can't blame the man for wanting to get his last big pay day before he retires.

Can't hate on that....We should of went harder at Mike Miller though.

We can't assume that people want to just join us because we are the Lakers.
We gotta start recruiting like Pat Riley and show teams we really want them. It seems we come across as arrogant.

Just my opinion

I'll echo semi's statement on Barnes, this guy is very limited and isn't particularly good at anything. No reason to go down that road. And while I'm not the biggest Bell fan, he would have been a decent addition.

I'll maintain this, and I watched T-Mac in New York a few times, he at least warrants us to take a look at him. He had some positives and negatives with NYK the past year, but I felt it was rather difficult to fully gauge out how much he had left. He obviously wouldn't be brought in to be a defensive specialist or a knock down shooter, but he would be brought in to limit Kobe's minutes, which is arguably just as vital to our success. If T-Mac has anything left, anything at all, he would be interesting on this team.

Im not trippin off you post. I was more talking to Magicontinues. Semi-Sentient made an effort to correct his post due to foul language and Magiccontinues quoted him before he could correct it. Magicontinues could have at least went back and deleted the quote.

That's the real question... does he have anything left? He looked really bad the few times that I saw him play. I've always thought he was an underrated play-maker (that's what the Rockets miss most from him), but now that we have Blake that essentially negates his value because he's a very inefficient scorer (or has been the past 3 seasons). I don't know. I just don't think that T-Mac's body will allow him to do the things he used to, which is a real shame because he was a damn good player before he started "breaking" up.

Come on enough guys are on his nuts already, no desrespect intended the guy just annoys the crap out of me. I really dont think he had as much to do with James, Wade, and Bosh signing as the world is giving him credit for. Those guys had this planned out a very long time ago and played the whole nba for fools

Well, it can really all come down to the fact; why not....who else is out there that fills one of our other needs. Is there any shooter/defender we can bring in to help us out. Not that I can think, at least not a wing player. I see no problem bringing him in and seeing what he has left. If he's a bust, well then that's that.

I'm actually happy. Did not want him coming anywhere near this team.

Sign Kwame with the remainder of the MLE and we're good.

Yep, agree 100% Big Game.

I'm good if we make the play for Barnes, guys keep hollering about Shannon but they must realize Shannon screwed himself........he's this years Trevor. Yeah we do have his "early Bird rights", but Dr.Buss isn't going there for Shannon. You just have to be real about that.

bell wouldve been a nice addition due to the fact that hes proven capable of holding hes own on defense and could spread the floor. now if shannon comes back hes proven that he cant guard wade single coverage or other bigger guards and will eventually result in kobe playing higher mins. i hope we sign barnes, when we need a defensive player to handle guards we're call him, and when we need alittle more offense i guess we're put sasha in there
