Says on Wiretap and first reported by Yahoo.

Not a shocking move as he was expandable thanks to the play of Patrick Willis. 49ers save $3.3M on the cap.

Smith signed with SD. I can't see the guy making another NFL team. He's just so slow.

I think he agreed to a 2 year deal.

He'll likely see some field in 2008 but won't start.
