Per Stein's Twitter

RT @Jonathan_Feigen: Rockets reach a deal with Luis Scola, a source said. Deal for five years, worth $47 million.

Thoughts?

Not bad at all, starting salary is 7.7 million, 11 million at the end of the contract.

Scola is only making 1.7 million more than Lowry this next season, I think Aaron might be on his way out, I'm getting that vibe more and more now, way too much for a back up.

Since we were saying that 9-10 was the max we should match at... I'm down. It's in that range, and Morey's setting the price, not Billy King.

ETA: I can imagine the conversation in the Rockets' FO Tuesday.

Alexander: Hey Daryl, apparently the Nets are about to hire Billy King.
Morey: The same guy who gave $35.5 million to Aaron McKie, $29 million to Eric Snow, $18 million to Greg Buckner, $40 million to Kenny Thomas, $25 million to Brian Skinner, $25 million to Kyle Korver and $60 million to Sam Dalembert last summer?
Alexander: Yeah.
Morey: Wait, isn't Mikhail Prokhorov the owner?
Alexander: Yeah.
Morey: And he's said he's willing to spend whatever it takes to get a good team?
Alexander: Yeah.
Morey: The same guy who's got interest in Scola?
Alexander: Yeah.
Morey: I NEED TO CALL LUIS RIGHT NOW.
Alexander: Nah, it can wait. He'll probably offer an $80 million contract to Adam Morrison.

This is good deal given the contracts that the FA PF are getting. Good job Morey!

Fair value. Too bad he had that beast mode game. That game alone probably cost the Rockets $500k-$1mil/year.

$7,768,595, $8,584,298, $9,400,000, $10,215,702, $11,031,405

Luis Scola will re-sign with Rockets to a five-year, $47 million contract with a partial guarantee the last season, his agent told Y! Sports

This deal is getting some love on the General Board. Opinion seems to be that it is fair value for both sides.

Pretty much how I see it.

Those of us who have had the pleasure of watching Luis over the last few years know what he brings to the table. The stars seem to be aligning for this team after so many years of frustration. Very happy that we don't have a front office who would have panicked during all of this and done something regrettable.

Who said that he is going to be a back up? I don't think this Scola deal is bad at all considering Amare is getting paid more than double that.

An average of 9.4 million for 5 years to a good legit PF?

Very nice.

Good job Morey for not overpaying..

Scola 5 year 47 million. Just compare this to

Bosh 6 year 110 million
Amare's 5 year 100 million.
C. Boozer 5 years 75 million
D. Lee 6 years 70-80 million? (he is traded to GSW not sure his total value)
T. Tomas 5 years 40 million
A. Johnson 5 years 34million
U Haslem 5 years 25 million?
C. Frye 5 year 25 million
H. Warrick 4 year 16 million

I would say Scola is paid about right

Cav's high offer to Lowry probably pushes Rockets to close the negotiation with Scola preventing Nets offering a much higher offer than Rockets would like to match.

Oh I agree with him then. I think they would have been better off getting a better player like Livingston for less money. If Brooks leaves, I'm not a fan of Lowry as the starting pg. The ideal pg for the Rockets would be a big, pass first pg that could shoot and defend shooting guards. Martin is better off guarding point guards.
