Disregard my last post. lol.

Trade 1(2 parts):
A:
To New Orleans-
Ed Davis
Miami 1st round pick

To Toronto-
James Posey

B:
To New Orleans-
TPE
To Toronto-
Darren Collison

New Orleans agrees to this deal to get capspace< a pick and a nice PF prospect.
Raps get their PG for the future while taking on Posey's bad contract.

Trade 2:
To Charlotte-
Jose Calderon
To Toronto-
Boris Diaw

Same trade as earlier discussed.

Trade 3:
To Dallas-
TPE
To Toronto-
Tyson Chandler

There is no way that Dallas is keeping Chandler when they just signed Haywood, traded for Ajinca (a promising project) and just signed Mahimini.

Raptors Waive:
Evans and Banks

Raptors sign:
Bobby Brown

Final Roster:

C- Chandler/A.Johnson/Alabi
PF- Bargnani/Kleiza/Dorsey
SF- Diaw/Weems/Posey
SG- Derozan/Barbosa/Belinelli
PG- Collison/Jack/B.Brown

Ariza will never come to Toronto. He didn't want to before, so that hasn't changed.

Here is my dream trade:
Trade Jose Calderon to Atlant for Josh Smith (I heard they are shopping him) throw in Reggie to provide them with size and mabe a something extra to sweetin the deal but imagine the possibilities . We would be the most athletic team on the league:
Jack
DD
Weems
Josh
AB

even better if we play Amir at the five with this combination, who would be able to match up with us.

i made this deal work and made it more appealing to NOH.

Deal 1 of 2 part deal:

1)

From Toronto:
Jose Calderon $9,000,000
Reggie Evans $5,080,000
* Miami 2011 1st Round Pick
= 14,080,000 X 1.25 + 100,000
= 17,700,000

To Toronto:
Emeka Okafor $11,795,000
Darren Collison $1,361,040
= 13,156,040

* 936,960 TE created

Toronto gets Collison + Okafor in this 2 part deal but its a 2 part deal that takes two parts to absorb Posey in the next part because IND would just cut us out then.

From Indiana:
Jeff Foster $6,655,000
Brandon Rush $2,069,040
= 8,724,040 X 1.25 + 100,000
= 11,005,050

To Indiana:
Jose Calderon $9,000,000

Indiana gets a PG for Foster + Rush.

From New Orleans:
Emeka Okafor $11,795,000
Darren Collison $1,361,040
= 13,156,040

To New Orleans:
Reggie Evans $5,080,000
Jeff Foster $6,655,000
Brandon Rush $2,069,040
* Miami 2011 1st Round Pick
= 13,804,040

* Take about 700,000 extra in deal one.

They get a young SG in Rush to compliment paul, clear a huge amount of salary which is continued in deal 2 of this 2 part deal. Get another 1st round pick to go along with huge cap space next off-season to put a winner around paul. Brings them down to 19 million (Rush + Paul + Ponedexter + Brackins) and have room to go get a Noah or someone like that.

Deal 2:

To Toronto:
James Posey $6,478,600

To New Orleans:
Trade Exception (Chris Bosh Trade)

This is the reason why we get Collison and IND doesnt because Posey is a big contract, saves 15 million in total just in this deal.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
New Orleans Total Savings:

Year 1: 5,830,600
Year 2: 19,077,860
Year 3: 16,109,344
Year 4: $14,787,500

Total: 55,085,304

so they save a HUGE amount. Turn Collison into Rush + a late pick. So not only do they bring assets back but they clear massive amounts of salary.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Toronto Raptors Roster:

Jarret Jack / Darren Collison / Marcus Banks
Demar Derozan / Lenadro Barbosa / Marco Belinelli
Linas Klezia / Sonny Weems / James Posey
Andrea Bargnani / Ed Davis / Joey Dorsey
Emeka Okafor / Amir Johnson / Solomon Alabi

Possible Minute Distribution:

Jarret Jack (20) / Darren Collison (28) / Marcus Banks
Demar Derozan (26) / Lenadro Barbosa (22) / Marco Belinelli
Linas Klezia (24) / Sonny Weems (24) / James Posey
Andrea Bargnani (30) / Ed Davis (15) / Joey Dorsey
Emeka Okafor (28) / Amir Johnson (20 + 3 = 23) / Solomon Alabi

I don't get why the deal has to be a two part deal. Just include Posey to Toronto for trade exception in the actual trade. Looks pretty good for all teams though! Indy would really have to want Calderon though. I do wonder if they would rather just deal with NO though. Posey + Collison is a lot less money than Calderon, so if they could deal useless guys like Ford and Dunleavy to NO, they might prefer that. Okafor would be a lot of contract to take on for them, but at least it gives them a decent big to play with Granger.

you cannot combine players and trade exceptions. So it would be a 2 part deal. You cant absorb Posey through the TE + attach players to get Okafor + Collison. So it has to be a 2 part deal.

another couple of ideas, first one is more of a dream.

Idea #1

To Toronto: Jonny Flynn $3,192,000 + TE *created MIN absorbs the difference
To Minnesota: Jose Calderon $9,000,000 + Cash Considerations (3 million) + MIA 2011 1st Round Pick

MIN gets a PG that hopefully can bring Rubio over faster. Calderon and Rubio are friends and if Rubio comes over in 2011, Calderon only has one more year left but it would appeal to them IMO

TOR gets a quick uptempo young PG to run with the youngunz.

* Deal Sessions for Fernandez in some sort of deal

Calderon / Ridnour / *Rubio
Webster / Fernandez /Ellington
Johnson / Brewer
Love / Beasley / Hollins
Darko / Millic / Prestes (2nd rounder)

that team would convince Rubio, has a bunch of international players and make Rubio more comfortable.

Flynn / Jack / Banks
Derozan / Barbosa / Belinelli
Klezia / Weems
Davis / Johnson / Dorsey
Bargnani / Center (Evans trade) / Alabi

thts a solid up and coming young team

Idea #2 (assuming a deal can still be worked out with CHA)

To Toronto: Boris Diaw + Dj Augustin + 3 million TE created
To Charlotte: Jose Calderon + Reggie Evans + Cash (400,000 covers TK) + MIA 2011 1st Round Pick

* Calderon has to partially waive his TK, waive at least 500,000 of his 900,000 for this deal to work

Toronto gets another young PG to groom, Diaw starts at the 4

Charlotte gets a starting PG, Livingston backs him up, get a backup 4 who allows Tyrus to start and get a pick in next years draft

Calderon to Minnesota may have made sense before they signed Luke Ridnour. They're sticking with Ridnour and Flynn this year and will be looking to dump Sessions. Acquiring Calderon makes no sense.

Indiana doesn't want Calderon. They don't want any contract that runs past the summer 2011. It's been their goal for a couple of years now. That's why they only have Granger and a bunch of rookies signed beyond next year.

I've spent a bit of time trying to muster up possible trades for Calderon. With the Charlotte deal nixed, Jose is virtually untradeable. BC would have to pull a rabbit out of a hat or risk future salary cap flexibility..

You`re right about the first statement. But since Posey for the trade exception works on its own, you can make the deal. You can`t combine players and trade exceptions for ONE player. Like I can`t deal Evans and a trade exception for Okafor. But I can trade Evans for Posey and take on Okafor for the trade exception.

Anyway a 3-way trade with Toronto, G-State + New Orleans could work like this?

To Toronto:
Biedrins
Posey
Collison

To G-State:
Okafor
Cash ($3m)
2nd Rd Pick New Orleans 2011

To New Orleans:
Calderon
Evans(expiring)
1st Rd Pick Miami 2011

^ Why would New Orleans want a 9 million dollar back-up to the best PG in the league?
Why would Golden State essentially swap Biedrins for Okafor when the latter is older and slower (while they are a fast-paced team)?
Why would Toronto commit itself long-term to a Biedrins/Bargnani front court (terrible defensively) in light of the investment already made in Davis/Johnson?>

I'm hoping there's some substance to that Hibbert for Jose rumor

Maybe something like this?

Jose (9 mil) for Dunleavy (10.6 mil)
Hibbert (1.7 mil) for Miami pick+TPE (from Hedo-Barbosa trade)

If there is any truth to this deal, I think Dunleavy is the guy Indy would want to move the most, to make room for Granger/George at the wings. Murphy is a slightly bigger contract, but I think he has more value, and they'd probably want to keep him if Hibbert is leaving.

I proposed the exact same thing the day the Hibbert rumour came out, surprisingly not everyone is in favour of Hibbert. Not sure why I'd welcome him to this team for sure. start him at the 5 but he'd only eat up about 20 to 25 mins a game which leaves enough playing time for Amir and Davis

Other then getting a young legit C is that Raps get an expiring deal for Jose

Thank you for being a beacon of sanity in a thread otherwise full of crazy. Also, Raps fans, would you please stop sending your weirder members over to the Warriors forum every couple of days asking what we think of Calderon for Ellis? We don't want him, thank you.

Trade ID #5620117
To Min
Jose Calderon
Rudolfo Fernandez

To Tor
Ramon Sessions
Jonny Flynn

To Portland
Wayne Ellington

Add draft picks here and there!

THIS SHOULD GET RICKY ONBOARD and we get our PG of the future Jonny Flynn!

This is a straight up trade that injects the team with much need youth and athleticism @ the PG spot while getting length and veteran savvy @ C. The Blazers get Calderon to start alongside Roy to run a much more conventional half-court offense, he replaces Andre Miller on the starting lineup.

Raptors trade Jose Calderon and Miami 1st round pick
Blazers trade C Joel Przbylla and PG Jerryd Bayless

Our probable starting lineup

PG Jarret Jack/Jerry Bayless
SG Demar Derozan/Leandro Barbosa
SF Linaz Kleiza/Sonny Weems
PF Andrea Bargnani/Ed Davis
C Joey Przbilla/Amir Johnson

key reserves if TPE or further trades not utilized = Marcus Banks, Reggie Evans and Solomon Alabi

Our staring Unit becomes a lot more balanced with youth, veterans, athleticism, shooting toughness and length. But boy that second unit is young, athletic, and fast did I say extremely fast? We'll be an absolute terror on the fast break against opponents second unit. We can defnitely wear the opposing team out with a true run and gun style from top to bottom.

Return to Toronto Raptors
