Re: Turk for Barbs
So it looks like about $44M for Hedo.
$9.8M, 10.6M, 11.4M and then a PO for 12.2M that he'd be idiotic to drop because he'll be 34 that year and won't be looking at a major extension.

He agreed to waive about half that final year but I also think he had a portion of his trade kicker make the trade so I'm not sure how much he's actually making.

Re: Turk for Barbs
Score. I'd heard something about how the final year was being adjusted but couldn't find any details.
$7M in his final year makes the deal a lot more palatable, because he's going to be an old, useless bum at that point, so at least he won't be old, useless AND an albatross. He'll be way tradeable in that alst year.
Those middle two years will be unpleasant, but he's only marginally overpaid for this season.
That's not so bad.

+1
But how?
The Suns have the following tradeable assets...
Grant Hill's small expiring (but the chances of him being traded are almost 0)
Goran Dragic
Jared Dudley's expiring deal (QO next year to make him RFA)
Jason Richardson's $14M expiring
And rookie deals for Earl Clark and Robin Lopez.
Dragic can't be moved, he's Nash's replacement. Dudley's a decent piece, but he's not enough to draw anything significant.
Richardson's contract makes him an extremely palatable option to use at the deadline, but if Phoenix gives him up, they are losing a guy who's posted about 16/5/2 over 137 games or so with the Suns in the RS, and 20/5/1 in the playoffs. He's been a vital shooter for the team and has even occasionally added some post offense.
So if Richardson gets traded, then the Suns are basically back where they started offensively, because then they really only have Nash and the new guy. Unless he's a creator offensively, or a 20+ ppg PF, then they're kind of in deep trouble again.

Ok people
Cant we just make a list real quick of taboo words not to be involved in trade threads:
Grant Hill
Goran Dragic
Jared Dudley
Robin Lopez
Hakim Warrick
Josh Childress
Steve Nash
Channing Frye
Gani Lawal
If you find yourself typing these names, you've already wasted too much time.
Proceed.

Well, as I said in my own post... Hill is almost entirely guaranteed not be traded. The Suns would be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to trade Dragic. Childress and Warrick just signed and CAN'T be traded until like December or something. Nash is obviously not going to be traded.
But then you've gone on to list everyone else on the team apart from Earl Clark and Taylor Griffin, and of course Richardson's expiring.
So basically, any real asset will be acquired independently with what remains of the TPE, or with Richardson's expiring. That's about it. That's going to make it hard. Very hard. Big men who are competent are in extremely high demand.

Read here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1034830#p24300598 that he made a portion of his last year unguaranteed. I didn't know that was possible. I suppose it is possible because a player or team might not be altering total amount of final year. Would love to get more info on this.

Re: Turk for Barbs
That's... well, this does much to undermine my major criticism of the deal. I still think it's too long and that for 3 years, they're overpaying him, but they have given themselves a way to make it easier to move it even in the third year.

I believe that option thing means that Suns could waive him for 6 mil instead of paying him 12 to play the final year. The rationale for Hedo's willingness to do so might be that he'd still be able to get a MLE type offer from other teams, to make up for the loss of guaranteed money.

Re: Turk for Barbs
Trading J-Rich for a mediocre power foward (which is what the Suns would get) is just robbing Peter to pay Paul. Then, maybe be our rebounding and post defense is a little better, but we lost our best scorer.
Unless there's a J-Rich for Al Horford "pie in the sky" deal out there (which I don't expect there is), there's no reason to make a move. Play a couple months with this group and see what happens. What if Lawal and Warrick thrive in this system and Grant Hill gets hurt (not all that far fetched). J-Rich would have a lot more value in that scenario. We can't predict injuries, player development or who fits in. The team has brought in some interesting pieces (Hedo, Childress, Warrick) and they have some young guys who could step up (Lawal, Clark). So, I don't see the harm in letting things play out for the start. Swapping J-Rich for a Troy Murphy doesn't make this team a whole lot better and may make them worse from a "run-n-gun" standpoint (esp if injuries happen). Then what do we do? Try and trade Murphy back?

I absolutely agree that moving J-Rich's expiring won't net anything of serious value unless the Suns get really, really lucky.
I actually agree with Arles here, the Suns should play for a while and see if they can make a move at the deadline. Lawal and Warrick probably will play well in the system, but I doubt highly that they match the production Phoenix has lost. But like Arles notes, they could develop value that could be used to acquire a bigger asset.

Re: Turk for Barbs
Hey guys,
attempted to make a Barbosa tribute but my computer failed massively and my editing program kept crashing. After crashing time and time again, i got fed up and just ended with what i had:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pakyaLShd_E
It could be done better, but it's not too bad overall. Hope you guys enjoy it.
It is rather low in quality however. My lame computer couldn't hold higher quality clips
Comments/criticism highly appreciated
