I still think he is coming to the lakers because I know one of the new teams that just got in contact with him is the cavs, and there is no way he is going there.

PDcavsinsider

#Cavs have been in contact with free agent forward Matt Barnes, sources say.

Just remembered LO called him out after the whole Kobe situation, wonder if there's still some ill feelings between the two. This guy is getting full of himself or just trying to get leverage on some team, I highly doubt that in 24 hours a couple teams joined the mix for him. He's been a FA for weeks.

At this point I can wait a little longer for his decision... any upgrade over Luke/Sasha is deserving of a little patience.

AHHHH this guy, I bet you no other team jumped back into the mix he just realized he needed more time to make his decision, or something went wrong with the team he was gonna sign with. that, and he obviousley needs attention from other people.

Barnes won't be here......it's simple it's no room at the 2 and 3 spots. If Shannon resigns bank on it not happening.

As of this very moment this is our roster:

Fisher/Blake
Bryant/Vujacic
Artest/Walton
Gasol/Odom
Bynum

**unsigned 2010 draft picks
**Derrick Caracter (listed as a F at 6'9'' 265lbs. via Lakers.com)
**Devin Ebanks (listed as a F at 6'9'' 215lbs. via Lakers.com

I can only see ONE of the TWO rookies being signed to fill the roster, but not both. Making the roster to 10 players. And since we need an extra big, whoever that may be, will make the roster to 11 players.

It's actually safer to say there's room for Barnes... since he is in fact an upgrade over an injury-prone Luke Walton and the everymore inconsistant Mr. Practice Sasha Vujacic.

But I do agree with you, if Shannon is signed before Barnes then Barnes isn't going to be a Laker.

8's Reversed, both rookies will be on the roster. I think Mitch is very adamant about infusing some youth to this roster. Plus Devin and Derrick both played very well according to the standards of summer league. I saw flashes of what both can be in 3 years down the line.

And that's was a GM's and scouts job is.........to make a projection on where a guy can help, where his skill will be with time and can he be a piece of what you're building or trying to maintain.

Derrick and Devin are keepers no matter what many here want to see, I like both.......been a long time since I liked any of our rookies.

If that's the case then you're completely right... no space left.

But I can also see a "small" tryout during the preseason, and one of the two gets cut... it has happened before. The problem I see is, regardless of the flashes that you saw, we will most likely not see any of it during the regular season (one, but not both) due to inept playing time alone.

I see your point though, and I hope you're right, because I do not want to see another Sasha.

I'd be very disappointed if we don't keep both our rookies since both of them have "good role players" pretty much labeled to their head now.

Their salary is what 450k? That's better than bringing back a Mbenga or Powell.
