Jose Calderone

Post#1 » by Dalakerbox » Fri Jul 16, 2010 4:50 pm

first I know we don't need him and with the addition of Blake and us bringing back Fish and most likely Brown he is even less needed and not to mention he has a very unattractive contract, bla bla bla. I have only seen a handful of his games and thought he was pretty good. Just wondering why he is so hard to move, anyone have any insight on his game? I hear he's a knock down shooter from 3 but nothing else.

If we did not get Blake, then he might have been an option. 2 years ago he did average 12 points and 8.9 assist a game. Not as good of a 3 point shooter as Blake. About the same size. Good player, but we have no money left so why even think of others.

He is horrible, he cant play defense at all he would make jordan farmar look like steve nash on the offense end. This guy doesnt play defense and he is very emotional.

Calderon serve the same role as Blake except with better shooting and worse defense. I would much rather have a 4 year 16 mil Blake than a 3 year 29 mil Calderon.

even at his best before his contract he wasn'tall that spectacular, he just had a very good Asst to TO ratio, he's way overpaid and thats why its hard to move him, at lest with Hinrich you know you can count on his D and shooting isn't consistent but Jose % has fell as well.

He's HORRIBLE! He's always injured! His defense is horrible! He sets up 0 plays! Ask anyone on the Toronto board and you'll find out! Lakers do not want this guy! This is from a Toronto fan!

Calderón>>>>>>>>>Blake
He had a bad seasson because of injuries but he´s healthy now. You underrated him a lot guys
Blake is crap. A 50-40-90 % shooter with the best ASS/TO ratio in the league would be a really good addition. and He is a very good friend of Pau, a great teammate, smart, leader and the starter PG of the Spanish national team so He knows how to play important games.
His defense is not his best skill but he is not as terrible as you say. Raptors is just a bad defender team...its not all his fault..See Boshhhhh...;)
He plays european style (take care of ball and team play)...That, in a bad team like toronto make him look worst because he dont care about put numbers...but in a good team like the lakers and playing close to Kobe He can be as good and decisive as Rondo is...
PD: Edit the title please, He is Spaniard not italian...Jóse Manuel Calderón not Calderone...
PD 2: I know im spaniard and maybe im not objetive but its because of this that I know him since he was young and i know how good he is and all the things he could do...
Greetings from spain, forgive my english and go lakers!!! THREEPEAT!!!

That's good enough for me, but when I see only two posts it makes me wonder:

+1 A healthy Calderon would easily be the best PG on the team. He is the perfect triangle PG and IMO would be great in this offense.

At some point defense needs to be a priority from the point guard position. I see so many players referred to as the "perfect triangle PG", but never see any attention on defense. Calderon will not provide any defense what-so-ever. There's a reason why the 35-year-old Fisher still has a starting point guard job on the Lakers, and it's not because he can shoot well.
