Prediction: 2yrs - 5 mil with 2nd year Player Opt again. Basically, same as before with a small raise.

Good news is LA will still have the rest of the MLE to use on a Big, and can offer more in a bidding war against Miami :).

There wont be much of a bidding war with Miami their about sign Juwan Howard unless the Lakers make an 11th hour offer that changes his mind.

I hope he's been working on his outside shot. Last year he shot .328 from beyond the arc which straight up sucks. I do think that we won't see him dribbling quite as much since he'll be out there with other play-makers (Blake and Walton). He also needs to work on his off the ball movement. He can't just stand around waiting for **** to happen all the time. Cut to the basket and mix things up every now and then. Guys like Walton and Odom are always alert and know how to hit cutters.

Anyway, I truly hoped that he would give us the same type of great role play that Trevor did, but he's given us anything but that. I hope the fact that no one wanted him lights a fire under his ass and has him working hard to improve his game.

If Shannon can take what he did before the all star break last season spread that threw the entire season and into the playoffs it'll be great. But if he starts slow he could be benched like Sasha was.

I think the Lakers are ok with playing Sasha extended minutes next season.

to be honest, i think kurt thomas, or a backup center who can, and will play around 10 minutes a night is more of a priority. gasol plays too many minutes, and we need someone who can play (not powell or mbenga) so he can rest a bit more. shannon is too inconsistent. and inconsistency is what we dont need. i'd be happier with barnes than shannon. if he will sign for what shannon would, id do that deal instead. sure shannon dunks, but barnes is more a more proven guy.

another idea...id rather have iverson playing 15 minutes a night than shannon maybe playing 15-20. dude can still score, and would be nice off the bench with odom.

It will be good to have Brown back as part of the second unit.
He is explosive and can ignite runs.
He gets lost on defense though. He fell asleep a lot in the Finals on his guy, specially Ray Allen.

He needs to improve a lot, and I was hoping to see some improvement last year but I was dissapointed in his development.
But he is very atheletic and explosive and the Lakers need that, and he is fun to watch in the open court
Do it Mitch!!!

It's really strange how players can learn and develop new moves, a shot, etc when they are in high school, college, etc., but once they hit the NBA, it's like their growth freezes, and they can only hope to be good in what they already know how to do. (kobe and a few others being an exception)

So, although I like SBrown's energy, athleticism, and general good attitude, I have to say, I'm not that optimistic about his growth....

I'll just be content to have him back as a decent role player who is familiar with the tri and can give us an energy boost off the bench.
