Just an idea to think about. I know it would never happen. The only thing left to happen this summer is some league minimum signings to meet roster requirements.
Josh Smith
to OKC
for
Nenad Krstic
Jeff Green
Eric Maynor
Then we could either trade for or sign Shaq (or one of the other C possibilities). Krstic can start at C if needed, Green can play the 3 or the 4 and Maynor gives us another young PG who can play with speed (hedging bets on Teague). Fills 3 open roster spots and saves a $1M in cap room. The deal would give the flexibility to deal Bibby, Williams, or Zaza without problem if needed (or possible), which means that a Shaq S&T would be more likely and then the 13th spot would be filled by an inexpensive signing.
Teague/Maynor/Bibby
Johnson/Crawford/Crawford
Williams/Evans
Horford/Green
Shaq/Krstic/Zaza
The biggest drawback (other than losing Josh) is that Green and Krstic are expiring which given the Hawks ownership may make them rentals. Although with a lockout looming it is about fixing the lineup now. This move is about building around Horford and keeping him happy. As much as I love Josh, he's could go either way because he's so emotional. Horford seems to be the safe bet.
Confession: I just bring this up for consideration. In reality I prefer to keep Josh and hope that Al can live with playing C if we get him a backup that allows Al to spend half his minutes at PF as part of a 3 man big rotation. I also want to dump Joe and his contract on a rich owner trying to make a run this year as soon as it's possible (December 15th). If Josh did go to OKC, they might become my new favorite team with Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Josh, Ibaka as a starting lineup.

Re: Changing the lineup with OKC
Yuck. Why not just try the Zaza for Shaq S&T without this trade?
Why not Joe to the Mavs? They need a SG, and god knows Cuban doesn't care about money. I'd trade for Tyson Chandler and Jason Terry as the principles. I think this trade works for both teams.
Teague/Bibby
Crawford/Terry/Crawford
Smoove/Marvin/Evans
Horford/Smoove/FA (Alade Aminu)
Chandler/Horford/Zaza
Kidd/JJ Barea/Jeremy Lin
Joe Johnson/Dominique Jones/Roddy Beaubois
Caron Butler/Shawn Marion
Dirk/Marion/Mahimini
Haywood/Ajinca
The 3/4/5 would obviously be on a rotation.

Re: Changing the lineup with OKC
Joe can't be traded until 12/15, but unless the Hawks are doing great I expect a trade to Dallas by the trade deadline. It is more likely to be for Caron Butler and filler. I expect it to be a classic do-over where we get little back, but the key at that point will be undoing the damage. Houston probably could make a better package but are less likely to take on that big contract.
