Kampmann's making the rounds too. I see Alves knocking his head off and Fitch laying on top of him.

I think he may surprise you. I can see an Alves fight ending up similar to his fight with GSP.

Ditto.

My guess is he steps right into the winner of GSP and Kos, maybe a harmless type first fight like CroCop or Rampage got when they came to the UFC. Someone like Lytle. It makes little sense IMO for the UFC to give him a top tier guy and risk hurting his stock before a title shot. Shields is the only title shot anyone wants to see after Kos, so the UFC should either just have him wait, or give him a fight he should win.

LOL

And Aoki beats Lesnar right?

You continue to pick against Shields and be wrong.

Who said nobody would give him a chance? But to give him a chance is way different than favoring him in a fight.

I just don't see Shields as a good matchup for Lytle, how would he win? I doubt he submits Shields. Shields decisions him 8/10 times IMO.

I give him a less than 10% chance. Lytle is a fun guy to watch, but when he fights top tier guys, he gets rolled. Remember the beating Kos put on him?

I have no idea what the UFC's plans is. Throw Shields to the wolves right away where he arguably belongs, or give him a mid-upper level guy to build his name more for UFC fans? Either way this only deepens the division. Add Nick Diaz and it's definitely the strongest division in MMA.

Shields hasn't faced any non-one-dimensional strikers. Lytle will be a guy who can bang and who can also defend on his back.

Shields standing is ****. His footwork and movement are terrible, he's unathletic.

He's done being the big fish in the little pond.

Lytle has no chance of keeping Shields from taking him down. LOL at him being a small fish with wins over...

Dan Henderson
Paul Daley
Mayhem Miller
Robbie Lawler
Nick Thompson
Carlos Condit
Yushin Okami
Toby Imada
Mach Sakurai

Are you the same guy who was hyping up Aoki as some big deal, because he does not have half the resume Shields does. Aoki is the big fish in the small pond. In fact, he came and tried to swim in Shield's pond and got crushed by Gilbert Melendez. Shields is as legit as they come.

Big fish/little pond, as in a grappler against strikers.

P.S. Toby Imada! ****, I had no idea.

If Shields loses, this may be the biggest win in internet history. People will be offering me their wives and daughters. I'll be a god.

Depending who they put him in with, he surely could lose. But, Shields has been in a ton of tough fights. He is not some 5-0 guy coming to the UFC wide eyed. I mean the guy just dominated Dan Henderson like few ever have. Okami, Hendo, Lawler, Daley, Condit...these are top tier guys.

Those guys are all viscous strikers as well.

I think that is a good fight, Kampmann is nearing a title shot. Could have the winner of this fight face winner of Fitch/Alves or winner of GSP/Kos .

WW division has started to look a lot stronger of late - which is excellent, but we do need to see people start to put GSP in danger (though his game plan is to essentially put himself as far away from danger as possible without being on the otherside of the cage itself). Which ultimately I think is the mark of depth in a division, no use being "deep" if none of the depth can win more than 1 round vs the champ, or have him in a bad position. At least the LW and LHW belt has changed hands recently! (not to side track).

On topic, its hard to say what to do with Shields, realistically giving a guy who is no more than 2 fights away from his title shot is a good idea, it allows Shields to show his stuff and give plausible reason should he win to a title shot, but without just giving him the "usual suspects" of say a Fitch or Alves. Kampman is a good idea, but even someone like Hardy could be a plan as well.

Though I wonder what his plan is in the UFC - with regards to weight changing - how much does success of his fights depend on where he is, and where does Dana/UFC stand on it.
