I wonder if he has gotten some offers in Europe? I think that would do him a world of good.

Also, it didn't look like they made any mention about is "stomach ailment." Or whatever it is.

As for the Love stuff, I think he just has a hard time holding stuff in, kind of like Charley Barkley did. He speaks his mind, and it gets him in trouble. Seems to me like Love is a jerk in the way that he's always picking on everybody in a jokingly sort of way. When you are that famous, any time to do this joking around stuff you run into the possibility of those less fortunate taking major offense. People think I'm a jerk because sometimes I do the same thing (but I'm not famous-so i usually get the benefit of the doubt), but we're just having fun, not trying to hurt anybody.

Yea I don't get it. Casey had us playing well, got canned and was as total class act about it. Yet he can't land a coaching gig. At least his name ALWAYS comes up though so he will get one soon enough. how often does Wittman's name come up for an NBA coach position? I think he'd be a good college coach though.

I really wish I could erase McCants' last (two) season(s) here from my memory. I had a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge man-crush on him. when he was on fire it was a beauty to watch. too bad Wittman played a huge role in ruining his career.
of course it's easy to say Wittman ruined it but seeing as Casey did a good job on him (and the rest of the squad) it's arguable that it's not necessarily only McCants' fault.

Terrell Brandon is another guy who had 'body language' problems - coaches didn't think he cared very much, when in fact the reason he was quiet is because he was doing the inner monologue, being really hard on himself. Many coaches (& managers) seem to be unaware their interpretations of body language often say more about them than the player/employee they are evaluating.

Without being there, it's hard to say if McCants really deserved all the crap he got, but it seems pretty clear that Wittman was going to be the last guy to do anything to figure it out. The only coaching he seems suited for is in the California Penal league...

I wish I could erase those memories too. He was an incredibly skilled offensive player. His defense could use some work but hell in today's NBA half the leagues defense could use some work. I could have guaranteed he'd have been a 18-20 ppg scoring threat in the NBA given that chance. He'd really be a steal as a 6th man if he could get his head straight and try harder on defense.

I think many of us are being a little nostalgic. Randy Wittman may have significantly hurt him, but he certainly wasn't telling him to play worse defense than the previous year, or telling him to seemingly completely lose his shooting touch. Maybe things would have played out differently if Casey and Garnett had stayed, but they didn't and his on the court performance went way down hill. Yeah, these articles do a great job of making McCants look like a victim and none of us can really say if that is or is not the case. But the bottom line is that his on the court performance has not warranted any serious NBA playing time. It did for one season, but it hasn't since. He hasn't even checked in for Cleveland's SL team yet. I had a man-crush on him too (I have his jersey still), but with what he has shown the last few seasons, HE IS NOT AN NBA PLAYER RIGHT NOW. I hope he can at least get back to the level that he was at in 07-08, but that's all he's done up to this point. He DOES have talent, but he hasn't used it effectively outside of one year.

I don't blame Witt for Rashad's failings. I just think he's a dick and I bring him because of the article "I don't him being a captain. I don't recall having an argument with him." Other players do no problem. That's so weak to say you don't remember.

I always liked him and I always got the feeling there were outside influences that ruined him. He seemed like a guy that put pressure on himself to succeed and the way Wittman and co just gave up on him was pathetic at the time, even with his play. He deserves another chance and if the team didn't have Ellington I'd be calling to bring him back.

But it's not the first time a player's personality has wrongly kept them out of the league. There's a guy in the D League named Rod Benson who's a legitimate NBA talent according to most scouts and drafting sites, but GMs won't touch him because he's (and this is a direct quote) "weird". Its sad when you hear about it.

And someone needs to tell Love to shut up. It can't be Kahn because he'd be hypocritical, but it has to be someone. I'm getting tired of him moaning about one thing or another and he can't talk in a situation like this.

The difference between Terrell Brandon and McCants was that TB tried on both ends and was one of the most efficient PG's in the NBA, he just had a really dull personality and didn't like people. McCants at the end was just a chucker plain and simple, he wasn't trying to fit into the offense and he wasn't trying on defense, he needed to go for at least just a change of scenery.

My only gripe about Casey was his rotations were aweful. Holding everyone accountable for playing defense was amazing, he did some really remarkable things with not a lot of talent.

I met Love twice and he really does seem to be a dick. Its just part of his personality, it works for him though. He's just the right combination of tripple-popped-collar-cool frat boy and blue collar everyman that everyone seems to just tolerate him and not want to cover him with gasoline soaked tires and light him up. He just has to make sure and not get arrested or make any racist comments and he'll survive.

I like to think that Kevin Love is the highschool equivalent of the class a-hole who everyone loved regardless of what he said.

I told everyone I who know about nba ball last year that Rashad was all but 100% headed to Europe for the 2009-2010 season,...and now i find out he didn't go because his ego was so big that he thought he'd get a legit shot on a team after no one was interested. He's got swagger, thats for sure.

I met Love last year and he was chill with me, but then again I'm Gopher and it was probably just my coolness rubbing off on him. :tooth
