Nice gesture, but we all know that it's Amare's management who wrote that and Amare just OK'd it. And do you think Amare's management would even suggest writing this letter had it not been for LeBron's PR suicide a week earlier?
You look at that letter, and about 99% of NBA players don't even have the ability to write a letter with such eloquence. NOW, had this been Steve Nash writing a letter to the fans, not only would it have been 100% his own, but it would have been written even better and would mean so much more. Amare's not a dummy like LeBron, but he's no Nash. There's class and then there's NASH class. Let's get real.

I can't hate Amare for leaving since he was offered more money elsewhere, it's not like the JJ situation where he told the team not to bother matching his contract. I still dislike JJ to this day.

My crazy aunt, and huge Suns fan is still fuming at Stat.
She used the add as a pisspad for her Chiwawa. I begged for a picture.
I am going to gamble and say Stat has hired a new PR team. One to mold him into as much as an 'icon' SunWho can be.... and one more attune to dealing with the rigors of NY Press . This is a 'big picture' move.
Props to Stat for doing it.... but after seeing that he nosethumbed us when he knew Sarver/Gentry had set up TGlu coming... well... my azz on 'winning' as a priority. He made a dash for cash, bright lights, and big city pure and simple.
Bravo to Aunt Kate. I hope her dog has good aim.

Very nice gesture by STAT.
I shall remain a fan for life.
Best of luck in NY, STAT!!! You'll always have a home in Phoenix!!!

Suns fan during the KJ era (Coliseum), through the Barkley era (Am West Arena), and now the Nash era (US Airways Arena)!

Its a proper 'Thank You' note.... and preventive medicine.
I have no animosity towards Stat, but also have not believed anything out of his mouth this past year. I am sure he has genuine feelings leaving this town, and at least he didn't wipe his feet on us as he left.
He was just tempted by the 'Apple'... it has happened before.

We offered Amare essentially a max deal I believe it was 5 years 96 million.
the last two years were not fully guaranteed though they had stipulations that said he had to play a certain amount of minutes so he could fully guarantee the contract.
Emphasis mine.
Our deal isn't just $3M/$4M/whatever worse. It's also "whatever the chance is that he gets injured and wouldn't hit those minute stipulations" worse.
I'm glad we didn't sign him at the price New York did. I also don't begrudge him at all for leaving and he should be a lock for the Ring of Honor.

I was going to ask if y'all would give him a standing ovation when we play in Phoenix, but you guys answered the question for me. Thanks Phoenix, you guys truly are great friends as Amare wrote
Also, I'm intrigued by the potential of Hedo and Nash working together. It could very innovative stuff.
We wanted Lebron SO BAD, but, in wake of the decision, he looks awful and it just makes me admire Amare more.
BTW, when did ppl start calling him STAT?
Have fun
lol STAT starting calling himself STAT, it just stuck with us too lol
Ha yeah he took a photo in front of the marquee of MSG and it said "Welcome To STAT City!" and it's like "Huh. Didn't know he had a nickname."
Then his first words as a Knick: "The Knicks are back"
Knicks vs Suns games should be really fun to watch this year, non stop movement and scoring!
Nash and Hedo(when his head's right, he's a great playmaker) sounds very fun.

I know. He and Sarver may have colluded on just staging a show of genuine desires to help each others' images. In the end, Sarver intentionally offered way short of guanranteed money for both of them to have excuses to part ways. Right?

Everything STAT said was true, his first option was re-signing with the suns, but he wanted to explore his options. If you got 100million guaranteed you would have done the same thing. I have no quarrel with Amare did, he was offered 3 years here or 5 years in the big apple. Is it that hard to empathize with?
