Dampier resigning on the cheap does excite me. He's a proven starting center for at least 20-25 minutes per game. Dampier/Nazr > Nazr/Diop.

The only thing we can offer is a starting spot. That might mean something, he could start, hopefully have a good year and earn a better contract next year.

damps isnt worth 13 mil but he is certainly worth more than minimum. if he was on the open market as a ufa i dont doubt he could get a half decent deal this summer.

Fair point. If we renounced him, we could sign him to an MLE contract and still be under the luxury tax threshold.

I'd sign him to a 2 year MLE deal. He's as good as anything left and we're not going to get under the cap in 2011 offseason so no worries about committing to more salary in 2011.

Assuming we would have Diaw (aka backup PF) and would only need center depth and he would be best center available on the market I would sign him for as much not ot hit a luxury tax. 2 years, the second one being team option.

If they end up not trading dampier and waiving him, the entire Chandler deal looks absolutely idiotic.

With that being said, its exactly what I expect to happen.

We save a little $ this year (but not enough to matter) but take on more dead weight $ in the long run .
