The Ultimate PF Poll

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Sat Jul 17, 2010 4:24 am

OK, we've talked about this topic at great length in various threads. Most of the dust has settled in free agency, and it seems as though we will enter training camp without a very good starting PF option. I know that there are a bunch of "start Favors from Day One" proponents around here, but our front office isn't even sure Derrick will start at all this coming season. So, let's keep the optimism in check, and review our PF options ,both past and present.

I trust you will all take an objective view at this poll, and not skew favoritism toward options that are still available. If you believe one of the FAs that signed elsewhere would have been our best bet, say so. Keep in mind, though, that some of those FAs would have impacted to sign the Nets' newest foursome (Farmar, Morrow, Outlaw and Petro). Please take the time to tell us why you chose the option you did.

P.S. I decided not to include Bosh or Lee in this hypothetical situation. They were both S&T'ed, so we have no idea of their former team would've accepted a proposal from us. Also, Haslem would've been a good option, but he clearly turned down greater offers elsewhere in order to stay in Miami.

You lost me with nit including Bosh and Lee. The S&T deals...Boozer got one too had nothing to do with anything here. NONE. Their former teams had no control here.

So the list of trash listed here....VC is right....you needed to include non of the above as an option. Want to skip Bosh as a plan A guy? Fine. But Lee was absolutely a plan B option on par with the others and the only one I wold have been happy to consider. These options.....I wont even vote....since all would have been bad signings for us.

This was a bad job Ecuhus...

All the Jazz got via S&T was a TPE; we or any team with the capspace could have given that. Toronto got their own '11 1st and another MIA 1st in the Bosh S&T, and CLE got two 1st and two 2nds. We may or may not have been willing to match that, IDK.

Other than that, you are entitled to your opinion.

The only guy I would of wanted over Favors is Love. With him off the block Im happy with Favors. The kid worksout after games. Its not gonna take long. Hes not a project he will just need 20 games because he's not a junior like Turner.

I wouldn't mind if we could work a trade of Taj Gibson for Courtney Lee, don't know if the Bulls would go for it though...

I actually would have liked Scola. Old, but skilled so he could give us good production for 2-3 years while Favors comes off the bench. Then as he loses a step, Favors starts.

NOT other than that. the pieces given have JACK to do with this. Seriously...JACK ****!!!!!

Bosh went where HE wanted as did Lebron. Boozer too. Compesation was worked out later for a longer deal. HAD NO BEARING. Lee....we walked away from. Didnt make an offer. And he didnt get close to his starting max.

These were not RFA guys. They control things....period. its a false perception to think the previous team has control. Its in their best interst to work out a deal. If they get a pick or two...power to them. If not a TPE still great. Lee ad Bosh should have been included and a none of the above option since that list were guys we shouldnt want at all.

If you wanted to skip Bosh as a plan A guy I said...OK...but then Lee gets added because he was part of what should be a plan B discussion.

Your acting like we didnt have legit options here...and that is not understanding the situation...and its misleading to the less informed posters.

I apreicate the effort but you know me...I will say what needs to be said. Your poll missed the mark but I think you could improve it.

YOu and I are on the same page. Of all the wings...he is the one I value least. Get me a big man prospect of merit...and lets start the season as is. If a a chance to trade for a bigt star comes up....great. If not...a high lottery pick would be the best outcome for what will be a long season on the court.

If GSW adds some luck our way...two lottery picks.

I like Scola too...but at 30 years of age...not worth that contract and the cap space he would have absorbed. We did right by walking away.

Too bad Brad Miller got a 3 year deal. A 1 year with a second year team option would have been a great pick up.
